If you have the proper tools, and skill, then yes. And then there's the "no" - While it would be possible to cut the track for the door, I honestly would not recommend it. It would require patient and precision filing and probably a paint job to get the track bar to look as if it wasn't altered. Also, the top and bottom trim as well as the cross trim would have to be altered as well. In short, there's a lot more to shrinking the size of the door than merely leaving a panel off. As for the track bar, I would just leave it be.

(What's this)
This kit will get you out of a “jamb”. This CALHOME barn style knotty pine sliding door, with hardware, solved a huge problem for me. Given the size and location of my door jamb, a regular door was out of the question. A normal door is impractical as it would get in the way of something no matter which way it swings open. A barn door is the only option for this location. A DiYer with time, tools, a helper or two, and doesn’t mind labor-intensive projects will be okay taking on this door and hardware kit. The door itself is assembly required. That said, between the tongue and grove notching and pre-drilled holes; it wasn’t at all difficult putting the door together. With assistance and following the directions, the door was assembled in about 30 minutes. The door is unfinished pine so it will require paint/stain. I chose to paint the door two different colors so that it would match the separate rooms’ interiors. When the door was finished, it did indeed have the look and feel of a professional-grade door. It’s nice to have an actual wood door in the house as opposed to the “cheap” lightweight Masonite doors. Of course, I am ‘not’ a pro. The panels didn’t line up perfectly. I find that the small imperfections add to the door’s rustic charm. The studs did not match the holes in steel track bar so a 1”x6”x6.5’ trim board was required. The steel track and rollers, among other hardware, are definitively high quality. When opening up the packaging, I was a little intimidated at the amount of hardware; ie number of pieces, but it’s actually not that difficult. A DiYer can indeed put this door together and assemble the hardware with careful planning and execution. One word about the instructions; they were clear enough, with plenty of visuals. However, so much of the process deals in measurements in millimeters. At first I was confused by two sets of instructions. One has measurements, lots of measurements, in millimeters. The other set has all the measurements in the “proper” American system! The only modification I made was to incorporate a deadbolt lock and drilling a partial hole for the strike plate in the door. In addition, I realize that peoples’ personal taste is probably the reason why the following hardware isn’t included but I am curious as to why simple “dummy” door knobs/handles aren’t included in the hardware kit as well? Such a thing would “class up” the door even more as well as provide increased functionality and practicality. Given that this is the only thing I can bring to question about the bard door and hardware, this kit is a homerun in my opinion. It’s great having a door – this door – especially where there was no door before; a much needed & long awaited addition to my home. I’ve long wanted to do this project, and shopped many a barn door kit. I’m glad I chose this one even though there’s a little more work to it as you are assembling your own door. I think you end up with a much better quality product in the end.

(What's this)
Let me begin this review with this statement: "THIS IS A BASIC SIMPLE SOFT PINE BARN DOOR." Do not expect hard wood, this wood is soft, but well within it's parameters as far as usage. The saw cuts are good, and the tongue and grove is surprisingly great fitting. My door showed war-page on one slat, so I have primed the wood to hopefully curtail any further shrinkage etc. The instructions are very very rudimentary and as such takes a bit of interpretation, and measurements are in "mm". "Note"; the slats are cut different length wise, so review them to match them. I gave it a dry assembly and everything matched up. The actual mounting hardware has a nice finish, good looking and all their, nice, Although I am still baffled as to why the two orbs that go on the top of the door per instructions are for.The hardware is boxed up nicely, in separate boxes, kewl. Looking for a simple door, this might be it, I gave it a average rating, but I did so just because the wood is a bit soft. Assembly will be a bit tedious, but surely doable.

This door was such poor quality that we should have returned it immediately. Since it required complete assembly we had started the assembly before we realized the boards were all warped and even with clamps the wood was unusable. Finally we purchased new boards and only used the rail. Rip off!

The door was easy to assemble. The only suggestion that I have is for the hardware. The 5/16 lag bolts could use mollies. The chances of the bolts aligning with a studs that are away from the door header are slim.

Poor quality
I own a remodeling and home improvement company. This door is very poorly designed and uses inadequate material. Only 1 side has the cross brace, which is not made clear in the description. So the backside does not match the front side. That also leads to a cheap looking side profile. The milling was significantly off, so some mild fabrication, adjusting and sanding is required to get all pieces in line. There is about $40 worth of lumber here. The rail system and hardware can be found for under $70 online, and includes a handle and finger pull, which this one does not. Poor value, craftsmanship and quality.

The doors hardware is excellent but the door came a little damaged because the package that held all the screws to put the door together opened up and scratched the wood! Also lost 6 screws that fell out of the box during transportation! Luckily it is a barndoor so some of the scratches looked like an old door. As usual the transportation company did not take any care in the shipping as the box was beat up and damaged!

Product was not laid out in 16" centers so trying to mount it to standard studs on the wall was not possible. There was no mention of potentially needing a backer board, we found this out being creative and going on line and watching someone else installing one on YouTube before installing the metal bar the rollers track on. Also the holes did not line up for the cross piece on the door itself and it took two full grown men applying tremendous pressure to get it close enough to be "acceptable" when putting the door together initially. Great concept for a kit but very poor quality control on pre-build pieces. Would recommend if quality was improved dramatically.
