Product Overview

  • Offers more points of contact for optimal performance
  • Works on treated lumber, hardwood, cedar and composite
  • Penetrates the board without splitting
The CAMO Edge Deck Fastening System works on most treated lumber, hardwood, cedar, composite or PVC deckboard. CAMO Edge Fasteners, a CAMO Marksman tool and CAMO Driver Bits combine to deliver a fastener-free deck surface at a price that makes getting the job easy and installing the deck even easier. The CAMO Edge Deck Fastening System is engineered to work exclusively together. Using other branded tools, fasteners or bits will impair performance and won't produce the desired results.
  • For use with most nominal 2 in. x 6 in. (1-1/2 in. x 5-1/4 in. to 5-3/4 in.) solid or grooved deckboard
  • Protech coated - 1500 hour salt spray
  • Covers approx. 500 sq. ft. deck
  • 2-free driver bits included
  • A reverse rake tip removes deck material as it bores, allowing the screw to penetrate the board without splitting
  • A star drive offers more points of contact for better performance and reduces bit slippage and wear
  • An aggressive lower thread pattern provides superior holding power while the reverse upper thread pulls the board tight to the joist and provides a clean, finished entry
  • A unique trimhead design provides a less visible point of entry

Thank you for your question about this CAMO product. Yes! The CAMO Edge Deck Fastening System can be used to install Azek decking. The CAMO system was designed to work with treated lumber, hardwood, cedar, composite or PVC deck boards. We do recommend if you are using CAMO to install Azek decking, that you use the CAMO Marksman Pro Tool (model #0345001). This tool features a 3/16" gap which is needed when installing synthetic decking. Thank you for viewing this CAMO product! -Team CAMO

The included bit is tough and as long as you don't ham-hand driving the screws it will last. Finished a 200sqft deck and the bit is just now starting to show wear. I used these in conjunction with the Camo Marksman Pro to do the deck work. Read the instructions carefully. They state NOT to put too much pressure on the bit when driving and let the screw do the drilling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly recommend this for a great finished/wow factor deck, but there are some significant gotcha... Highly recommend this for a great finished/wow factor deck, but there are some significant gotchas you must consider first. Pros: 1. Extraordinary finished looking deck, puts a smile on your face, especially if you are OCD 2. X1 Tool automatically spaces boards (in my case 1/16") for pressure treated 2x6 3. X1 Tool can withstand light/medium hammering (on the metal jigs for stubborn placement areas) 4. Marksman Pro-X1 Tool easy to use 5. Screws are handy to use for attaching other things, like hand rails from the bottom and won't make a big/noticable hole 6. Due to the smaller size, you can attach the ends of a board to the supporting joist without worry of splitting Gotcha's 1. Time consuming, probably 3 times slower than bang-bang-bang deck screws straight line through the top.. BUT Camo hidden screws was worth it in my opinion.. FYI 3 man weekend warrior crew took us 2.5 days to plank the deck and picture frame (18x26ft deck using 16ft length 2x6 PT lumber) 2. Required tool is indeed nice, however not much use for it beyond deck building 3. ****Screws are NOT pointed, tips are flat chisel shape and are difficult to use without the tool 4. There are spots where the X1 tool won't fit such as last board against the house, 2x6 that just won't cooperate, etc.******* 4. ATTENTION CAMO ENGINEERS, there is NO reason to have the screws not be pointed. My only thought is they did this on purpose to force the use of the X1 tool. Pretty shady. A few taps with a hammer and you are in business, but as seen in #1 of my Gotcha points it slows the finishing process down considerably. 4. Thin gauge... great for tacking down boards, however, if a board needs to be pried/talked to/straightened or stepped on before screwing down you will need to use beefier #9 star drive deck screws (recommend 3 or 3.5" inch) for boards that need to be persuaded into position. #9 screws work just fine depending on your level of OCD. I am pretty OCD and using the occasional #9 T25 deck screw toe'd in from the side did not affect me. FYI #9 screws won't work with the X1. 5. Screws are a T15 star/torx bit so not a real standard size 6. Screw heads could be a few thousands bigger to help get more downward pressure and resist board humping/movements 7. Due to the small head size, I used 4 screws (2 on each side) on the end of a board to ensure curling does not occur. This used more screws. 8. 1750 screws was JUST barely adequate for a 18x26 ft deck... not including handrail attachment, so I need to get more 9. If you mess up... and yes you WILL mess up, getting the screw back out is difficult sometimes Tips 1. GET A GARDENERS KNEE PAD or some sort of knee protection 2. Grab about 6-10 tubes of Loctite PL-3x construction adhesive, you will thank me later 3. When in doubt, use a #9 T25 deck screw instead for insurance 4. GRAB a 90 degree dewalt adaptor (DEWALT DWARA100 Right Angle Attachment), critical for the back edge of the last board against the house, and a zillion other uses such as the last step on a stair stringer (attaching screws from bottom) 5. GRAB a Dewalt 20v XR Driver - best thing you will ever buy 6. Grab a bunch of dewalt quick chuck bits, T25, T20, phillips #2 etc 7. Grab 2 boxes of #9 T25 screws, 3" and 3.5" 8. If you use 6x6 posts you may want to seriously consider getting a Dewalt 12" compound miter saw ($600)... you have been warned :) 9. Doing this deck took every tool I own to complete this project and then some, and I own ALOT of tools. I hope this review has been helpful to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product!!!! Works great on the 5/4 cedar deck boards with yellow wood joists. The description needs to suggest what length of screws to use and if bits are included with the product. It the screws are ordered online, packing tape needs to be wrapped around the container to keep the lid on during shipping. I have installed about 700 screws with 1 bit and haven't stripped the the bit or a screwhead
