The CASO Single Burner Induction Cooktop offers the convenience of safe countertop cooking anywhere. The cooktop is highly energy efficient and utilizes the highest quality materials in its construction. When an induction ready pan is placed on the induction cooktop, a magnetic field is generated that efficiently heats nothing but the bottom of the pan. Since the heat is generated in the pan itself, the actual cooking surface remains cool to the touch. Must be used with induction ready cookware.

How does this compare to a standard cast iron heating plate for an natural gas stove?
Asked by: angel
Thank you for your question. There is no flame or gas for heating. This product uses magnets to heat the pan. You will need to make sure that your pans are induction pans, however, or they will not heat up on this burner.

I want to know how many amps this apliance will pull on its highest setting

Asked by: Chris
No I'm sorry, I don't see that information in the manual but other listed information that might help you: power consumption is 1800 W, temperature range is 140-460 degrees farenheit. You might call the manufacturer, Frieling USA, Inc at 800-827-2582 or service@frieling.com to get your amps question answered.

I am so looking forward to using this to maintain correct food hotness while serving a buffet. Being induction means no burnt fingers. A reminder, though, this cooktop only works with metal pans ... no glass or even aluminum containers. A magnet is included for testing your cookware. COOL features ... set at desired temperature ... not Low, Medium, High.

Only 1 out of 6 would maintain heat anywhere close to the temp or setting selected, they consistently became way, way too hot for what was being cooked. I used good, brand name, cast iron 8" pots, not too big - not too small, so the type of pot wasn't the issue, and neither was the type of oil (I am well aware different oils have different responses to heat temps). I researched and read reviews on many inductions before ordering, which all state pot temp will vary about 10-20 degrees from digital readout, so I was expecting that workaround, but the variance of these at over 400 when set at 340 and below was completely unacceptable. Even called the company to ask what piece of the puzzle I might be missing, although very nice and cooperative, they said they've never had this problem before. With the 6:1 failure ratio I experienced, I'm skeptical. What a disappointment.

I'm still experimenting to see how I like the induction technology. That's actually one of the biggest reasons I purchased this -- as a "dry run" to see if I want to put induction in my remodeled kitchen.

I like this hot plate and will be using it this holiday for entertaining. I like to have buffets and this hot plate will keep many foods warm for serving at parties. It heats very fast and will heat only the pan surface and not the whole burner. This is a great safety feature. It does have 12 power levels that operate with a sensor touch control panel. It is very easy to clean, similar to my glass top stove. The glass ceramic surface is also attractive and upscale. The unit can be set on a timer to keep temperature set from 140 degrees to 460 degrees. The timer will work for 180 minutes, which is perfect for party entertaining. The digital panel works very effectively. The numbers are easy to read. There is a test magnet included so testing of cookware is possible prior to using on the cook top. It must have a magnetic base to work. The risk of having burned food on the cook top is reduced, as the burner only works under the pot. Pots must weigh less than 13 pounds to be used on this portable hot plate.

Just beginning with something as simple as it's design; it's a beautiful sleek black glass that's easy to clean. And it continues to get better from there. The operation of this unit is very sophisticated. You can either operate the heat element at a level 1-12 or using the temperature mode. Which ever method chosen there's a digital readout showing what level or temperature it's in. Obviously, there's a learning curve with the level mode as we're use to working with temperature, but it's nice (and interesting) to have an option. The temperature (or level) reacts pretty quickly, unlike the elements on an electric cooktop which seem to take forever to increase and decrease in temperature. While the surface itself does not heat up, the cookware used on it may transfer heat to the plate surface. If this occurs, when you switch off the unit if the plate is hotter than 120 degrees Farenheit, a "H" will display alerting you to the fact that the plate is hot. This unit also comes with a timer function (up to a maximum of 180 minutes). With the holidays coming, this appliance will have great use in giving me additional cooking capabilities. I could also use it on my buffet to keep dishes warm provided there's air circulation around the unit. And for entertaining, I can see being able to set up fondue in an induction ready pot on my covered patio. Speaking of induction ready pots, (pans and skillets), there's even a magnetic card included so you can test your cookware to see if it's compatible.

The house we bought has an electric cooktop that both my wife and I absolutely HATE. We're thinking of replacing it with either a gas or induction cooktop. We've never used an induction cooktop so we thought we'd give this a try. It's pretty awesome! Plug it in and it's ready to use. The electronic control panel allows you to set a cooking level (low to high) or a temperature. The panel is intuitive and easy to ready. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. It has a timer to shut it off if that's what you need. The best thing about this induction cooktop is how fast it starts to heat your pan. I placed a small amount of butter into a pan and turned the unit on to a mid-range heat setting. The butter started to melt in about 3 seconds. It creates even heat across the entire surface of the pan...no hot spots. Need more heat? Just dial it up a bit and it reacts instantly. Obviously cooling down takes more time because the pan heats up quicker than it cools. But it still reacts instantly. Overall we really like this mini cooktop and I think it's sold us on an induction cooktop for the kitchen. And I work for a gas company! Cleanup is a breeze. The top does get hot because the heat from the pan is transferred to the glass top. But it's not nearly as hot as an electrical cooktop. So, spills aren't nearly the problem they are with an electric unit. It doesn't get hot enough to really "cook" the food on to the surface. A damp rag takes care of most issues in just seconds with minimal effort. We have only one complaint. The unit seems to have a vibration that causes some pots to slide around on the cooktop. You can actually watch the pan migrate across the cooktop towards the edge. I'm not sure if that's just our unit or if that's normal for this type of system. But, that could be a problem for a countertop type appliance like this if you're not paying attention. Without that issue this would be a 5-Star product.

The CASO Single Burner Induction Cooktop is a compact unit that has a temperature range from 140 to 430°F which allows for slow cooking all the way to high temp deep frying. The glass-top is eay to clean and the induction cooking is great. We currently have only one pan that is usable with this cooktop, but plan tp purchase an entire set, even though our current cookware set is only a few years old. The Cooktop sits on the countertop next to the range perfectly.

This Induction Hot Plate is only intended for warming up and cooking foods. The pots and pans intended for use on the induction cooktop surface must be suitable for induction cooking. The manufacturer says that Pots and pans must have a magnetic base in order to be compatible with the cooktop, but in my demonstration video, the stainless steel pot I used have NO magnetic effect at all, and it still it works fine: so, it is up to you to test and see what all pots and pans work on your Induction cooktop. Most of the Stainless steel and all the cast iron utensils with a flat bottom will work fine. The magnetic fields generated during operation of the appliance may lead to adverse effects to some people. As per manufacturer, People with elevated electrical sensitivity should not remain in the immediate vicinity of the appliance than necessary and persons with a pacemaker should keep a distance of 60 cm/23.5” away from the appliance while it is in operation. In addition, persons with a pacemaker should clarify with their doctor if special handling steps are necessary. The 1800-Watt of power makes fast performance. The heat settings are:250, 280, 310, 340, 380, 420 and 460 degrees. The maximum power it uses is about 14 amps. It is a very easy to control cooktop with touch control and has good quality glass-ceramic surface. It is amazing how fast it works and leaves no mess after cooking.
