Is 7 pcs. For a 7 ft. Ring too many? I have a 7 ft. circle out front filled with billiardball-size rocks. I have a 5 ft.circle as well around a 6” tree filled with the same size rocks. Currently, I have the rubber (L-shape) 4’ sections around them that lasted about a year!
Asked by: Andy
The sections are actually 4" in length, so 7 sections (28' total) would make a ring that is almost 9 feet across.

Yes. Very hard paint and I make sure I don't abrade or scratch the covering to allow rust. I have made over 24 rings with this product and never had a problem. I have drilled through the section and stake to bolt them together but this was a personal preference and not a necessity. To protect, I hit them with corresponding brown primer in a spay can.

Do you have to use three separate sections to make the ring, or can I use two to make a smaller ring?

Asked by: Tony
I have tried to make a 24" diameter circle but the metal is so rigid (good thing) that it never worked. Did purchase a piece of 24" PVC sewage pipe from pipe supplier and cut segments from that.

We actually used this COL-MET Tree Ring Section for consistent curves in tandem with their compatible 8" edging segments. It is very high quality, heavy gauge steel, yet flexible enough to adjust the curvature. Installation was simple following COL-MET's online directions and videos. A big bonus was that this steel edging does not require digging a trench for installation, like plastic or rubber edgings do. You simply pound in into the ground using a 2x4 to protect the edging from the hammer blows. The finished result was a very attractive and durable garden edge that looks very professional. I'll never use plastic or rubber edging again.

A trench needs to be dug before you set the new edging in place. Removing the anchor spikes takes 2 pliers. The wide stakes also help. The finished job looks great.
