The CST/Berger automatic level kit is designed to deliver accurate leveling every time with fast setup and to save time and money. Fine motion knobs on left and right sides with friction-baked rotation, endless horizontal drive.

    Does the grade rod measure in tenths?

    If it is automatic leveling, why does it have the leveling screws on the vernier?

    The leveling screws on the base are rough adjustments. The automatic leveling is done, like all automatic levels, by the suspended prismatic mirror within the body of the device. You'd first approximately level the legs of the tripod, then level out the rotating table with the three screws, then the automatic level's internal pendulum takes care of the last degree or two of levelness.

    Would this be a good tool to use to grade for a brick paver pato?

    The kit includes a case for the level but the tripod and measuring stick do not have a case.

    Tripod is well made and sturdy. Leveling instrument was fast and easy and optics very good. Overall very good instrument and not expensive. I did order a 16' stadia rod separate, as the 8' rod that comes with the kit was not tall enough for grade shots taken. The 8' rod, however, will be handy for those times where a short rod is all that is needed..

    Very impressed. This thing works great and you don't have to jack with leveling it for a half an hour. The Self leveling feature is awesome.

    I used this set to mark boundries for our new 14 acre parcel. If you have elevation differences of more than 8 ft you will need a longer stick. Other than that its excellent.

    I am a contractor. I have pulled the transit out of its box, set it up, but have not got to use it yet. I have used a lot of different models of the same brand. This seams to have quality construction. Very heavy, stand is of quality. Can't go wrong with a CST/Berger. Good luck!

    Pros: Accurate
    Cons: No Instructions, instructions not very good a circle has 360 degree
