The header says it is Aluminum, but it is steel.
The header says it is Aluminum, but it is steel. Called Curt and checked with them and they said THEY DO NOT MAKE an aluminum one. Returned it for full credit and told them they are false advertising the product. I went back and read some of the reviews and have complained of the same thing, but I see the word has been changed to STEEL.

Just what I wanted in a cargo carrier
curved insert raises the tray; fits both 1-1/4" and 2" receivers; there is even room to step between the automobile and the tray to adjust tie-downs!

High quality cargo carrier is easy to assemble and easy to install or remove from vehicle.
Arrived in about a week. Carrier was extremely easy to assemble. Looks exactly as pictured. Fit is perfect on the car - the step up gives extra clearance, and the unit sits with a slight angle with the rear edge up about an inch or so. Paint was good. I added two rear reflectors in red and side reflectors in amber to help with the visibility of the unit. I also purchased the 70 gallon HDX storage container and four 48 inch bungee cords to secure the container. Works perfectly to shuttle things back and forth without the need to disturb anything in the trunk of my car. Adds lots of extra storage space to put tools and materials for those never ending projects around the house. It is relatively light and easy to install or remove. This is a great addition if you have either a 1.25 inch or 2 inch receiver.
