      Answer This Question

A:  Hi SMLT, You can only turn it off if you have a double pole thermostat. The units come with a single that will not close the current. If you want the unit to be off you will need to close it at the breaker. Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team

Q:I see that it has been asked previously, but not necessarily answered, but why does the video state that the 4k unit heats up to 1000 sq ft, and the product description state 500 sq ft? I am assuming that it is 500 sq ft, although, what is it officially?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Chris, The 4000 Watt unit can heat up a room 500 sq feet in a regular environment with windows and doors. The video is a bit older when the product just came BUT the square footage is 500 square feet. All written out correspondence on the unit states the 500sq ft. Sorry for confusion. Nice little unit
Nice little unit. Bought as a backup to my pellet stove. Easy to install if you have the wherewithal to run and install wire 220VAC to NEC. The internal thermostat does tend to shut the unit off earlier than anticipated and does not seem to be accurate. I do recommend adding a 120V wall thermostat (rated for baseboard heaters).

We like it. It does what it says it will. I wish it was a little quieter, but it does put out the heat. We did keep our gas heater in case the electricity goes out next winter.

Great Heater, but no true off
Great heater so far. Install was easy. I was placing in a new built wall that will get insulated and sheeted. This heater is not loud and pumps out the heat. A bit of a new smell on the first run, goes away after that. The one major con is the built in thermostat. There is no true off position. It appears if you want a true off posistion, you have to spend another 30$ and buy the Cadet CTT2W thermostat to replace the existing one. I an currently debating buying it, or just using my breaker as I currently do. I am soley marking down the stars on this product due to the 30$ extra I have to buy to have a true off switch

NEEDS a better thermostat. When you need the heater it works great, lots of heat. But, it is mounted in a room we do not heat in winter unless we are going to use it for company. We live in Northern Michigan. That room gets COLD in the winter. The thermostat is not a TRUE OFF switch, just has a low setting to shut down the unit. So, when it gets really cold the unit comes on even when at the lowest set on the dial. My solution was either disconnect the unit (a real PIA) or install another switch in line(also real PIA). So I rigged a temporary switch for now and will have to figure out a more permanent install later. It just needs a true on and off switch if it is going to be in a room that gets below freezing temperatures.

            Hi GT,

The heater will turn on at below around 45F this is a normal operating mode, you can upgrade your thermostat to a double pole thermostat like the CTT2W so you can turn off the heater at any temperature in the room, this way you won't need to get a switch to control heater.

It heats my office area pretty rapidly. It is in the basement and about 10 degrees colder than the main floor. It has a built-in thermostat and a little guesswork is required to set the thermostat the first time I used it, but once it is set to the temperature I wish it maintains that temperature nicely. Then I just have to remember where I set the knob the next time I use it and that works well so I did not have to play with it to get it to the temperature I wish on subsequent uses. It takes perhaps 5 minutes or so to warm up and it stays at that temperature till it is changed or turned off. I only use it while in the basement.

I bought this heater as a replacement for the same model that was already installed in my garage (probably around 20 years ago). The replacement works great, but the fan seems considerably louder. That may not be a problem for most people, especially if you're installing it in a garage. Wish that this model had a digital thermostat option. Overall, a good value for the price.

Hi Nathan, we are happy to hear that your replacement is working great for you, but we are sorry to hear this fan seems to be making more noise than the previous heater. One thing that might be going on here is the motor in the previous heater may have gotten a little worn out, which would make it quieter. The lifespan on a wall heater like this one is typically about 8-12 years, so that may be the case if your last one was 20 years old. The fans have a noise equal to a blow dryer on a low setting. If you’re hearing something louder than this, please give our tech support team a call so we can help find a solution: 855.223.3887.
