Answer

Yes! It will work it is rated at 3600 wattage so you should have no problems. Thank you...

Does it have an on/off switch?

Answer

It does have an on/off mode. It is in the directions they call it stand by mode. See the manual below and if you have trouble let us know by calling 855-223-3887 during business hours. Thank you so much. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0503/7021/6091/files/TEN_Installation_EN.pdf?v=1607399956

Specs indicate Lithium battery as well as hard-wired? Is this thermostat exclusively for heating ...

There is no mention of a battery in the manual. The loss of power temperature setting is (I suspect) maintained with a flash memory chip - slick. The unit will control both electric fan-forced and baseboard heaters (the settings are different). The off setting is accessible on the front panel along with everything else. The thermostat partially embeds in the wall in a standard receptacle that includes space for the 220 and 110 wires and nuts.

I wired it up as shown in the instructions that came in the box. It didn't work. I went to the manufacturer's website and read various consumer complaints and it turns out the instructions had you wire it backwards. Why Home Depot or the manufacturer didn't do a voluntary recall is beyond me. The manufacturer didn't bother to proof read the instructions which to me is very poor quality control. Thus the reason for my POOR rating.

I apologize you had this issue. I will forward this on to our management team. Obviously this is not the kind of customer experience we want you to have. Thank you and have a good day.
PIECE OF JUNK!!
The buttons don’t work, you have to try 20 different spots to get a response. Trying to get it to work was one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done

Stick with analog
Attractive modern design with temperature Display. That’s about it. Changing temperatures is like dealing with a stubborn mule. And Good luck attempting to turn the thermostat to off position. The engineers and quality control folks should be fired. A waste of money.

We have advised the engineering group and quality about this unit. Thank you for the feedback and I am sorry you had issues.
Ridiculously Frustrating Controls
One reviewer mentioned this then went on to talk about the 'setup' controls and Cadet responded to the setup issue but not the main issue, which is the lack of sensitivity with the touch controls. They are incredibly frustrating and don't work well. They do not respond to extra pressure or to holding them down. I am not an 'old guy', I have no issue with technology, and setting the temp requires many taps for every .5 degree change in temp. I have three and they all have the same issue. I love that they show the room temp and they do keep temperature well, but the controls make them awful to use. Imagine waking up because the room is hot and having to pound away bleary eyed at a thermostat that simply will not respond to your touch. I'll be replacing all of mine for another product. Cadet, buttons for temp control, especially when they double as setup controls in elaborate combinations, would make these much better products. I usually like your products but the fact that you did not address the previous reviewers concerns about this same issue tells me that you're aware of the problem and have simply not done anything about it. It's a shame.

Thank you fr letting us know your frustrations. We are working to improve this product as this is not the first we have heard of the responsiveness to touch. I will send this to our quality and engineering teams. Again I am sorry for your frustrations about this product.

This is a unique product for controlling base board electric heaters. I have 5 of them that provide 0.5 degree control. They are working very well in conjunction with propane heat. Construction is solid, wiring is simple; I expect them to last about 40 years.

Complex user interface
Shame on me. I keep forgetting a basic lesson to download the user's manual and see how such devices work before ordering them. This thermostat uses a touch-sensitive screen with only two controls, "+" and "-". It is an attractive unit but represents the victory of form over function. First, the sensitivity of the controls is skittish. In the evening when I try to turn down the heaters I repeatedly touch the "-" button, sometimes the setting changes, sometimes it doesn't. I move my finger or wipe it on my jeans and keep trying. And if you hold your finger on the "-" button it will not continuously change, you must touch for each 1/2 degree change. So to reduce the temperature from 72 to, say, 62 one has to touch the button 20 times. Easier to put the unit on stand by? Pres the "+" and the "-" key at the same time, Press the "-" button three times, then press the "+" button. Makes an old guy like me long for the day of analog switches. I think we operate under an assumption that new, high-tech controls are smarter or more reliable. In reality, it seems like manufacturers have just found a way to produce something cheaper by minimizing physical switches/controls and embedding them in the microprocessor. (Forgive me if I'm missing something, but after a few days working with this unit and reading the instructions, I haven't found any shortcuts.)
