Can this be used inside a garage
Asked by: Will
Yes but if it runs most of the time, it's going to increase your electric bill. Pray it stays around 30 degrees most the winter.

for the compac twin 4,000w 240v. what size breaker? what size wire?

Asked by: wally
Lots of discussions on this topic. Below is the NEC code for various wire gauges. The "80% max load" is a safety factor used by NEC for circuit continuous usage (joule heating) concerns. I wired my heater with 10/2 since the circuit length is 35 feet. Overkill, you can decide but for an extra $10 in wiring costs, I sleep just fine with this heater running several hours continuously in my cabin. I have it on a 20A breaker and have had no issues with the circuit tripping. 240V (US) (@ 80% max load) (50ft run or less) Gauge Amps Watts #16 9 2160 #14 12 2880 #12 16 3840 #10 24 5760 #8 32 7680 #6 40 9600 #4 48 11520

Hi, Is thermostat in low position when the knob is turned completely counterclockwise ( I need the separate 2 poles thermostat to turn it off completely ) ?! Thank you for your time.
Asked by: TPK
Yes. It is always on low and never off. If you want to turn it off you need a double pole thermostat like you said. Home Depot has one for 23 bucks and it can handle 22 amps.

What is the best mounting height to achieve optimum comfort in the room?

I would like the measurement from the floor to the bottom of the unit. The manual says 12”, but is that the best height?
Asked by: JK
I inserted mine in the wall at 12" from the floor. I believe this is stated in the installation instructions. I had to move an outlet over to the right to make room for the heater. For what it's worth... this has been a very important installation because this has been an extremely cold winter. It's used as a back up and has functioned well.

I choose to install through a seperate wall thermostat so I could do a complete shutoff without going to the breaker. It works perfectly and is all I need to keep a 700 square foot guest loft above the garage warm.

Installation was easy and instructions were great. First test brought my 18' X 14' bedroom from 61 to 70 degrees in 8 minutes when the temp outside was 48. It has good airflow and the air coming out of the unit is HOT. Thought it would be a little quieter. The noise is like background white noise, just a little louder. It is certainly quieter than a 5000 BTU A/C window unit. I like it and recommend it.

I bought this to heat up a 400 sq foot open area of kitchen and living room. I am so happy these areas are nice and warm .I had it professionally installed by an electrician to run the higher voltage cable from the electric box. Well worth the price and ten times warmer than any space heaters. This is an affordable solution to heat your home.
