Questions & Answers

Can I use a WIFI thermostat to control this heater

I would like to install this heater in my workshop and would like to be able to turn the unit on and of remotely. Can I use a standard WIFI thermostat with this unit?
Asked by: Doug
I believe you could do it if u connected it to a lighting contactor with a coil of the same voltage as your thermostat is running on the which would most likely require a 12v transformer.

When replacing a Z102 do i need to drop the unit to 900w like recommended if it is a larger room? What is the harm or risk if i leave it at 1600w?
Asked by: Mike
Hello, thank you for your question! We recommend matching the wattage of your old unit unless you felt like it was not enough heat. If you decided to leave the unit at 1600 watts, you would need to make sure it does not overload your circuit breaker.

will this replace the RM 202? 240 v that burned up
Asked by: Rudy
Hello, thank you for your question! Yes this will replace your existing RM202 but it will be 400 watts less since it's 1600 watts. We recommend 7-10 watts per square foot for a main source of heat so if the 1600 watt heater is still enough heat then you would be able to drop your wattage.

Register Multi-Watt 240-Volt In-Wall Fan-Forced Heater in White is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from seem to be a very good heater but are more... seem to be a very good heater but are more energy efficient at lower altitude. Among other rental properties, I have two small rental homes which have all-electric in-the-wall heating. One home has a cheaper type of heater, a flimsier design than the Cadet Register. I recently had to replace a couple of the heaters in that house, and the Cadet seems like a much sturdier heater. I know from experience at 6,600 feet altitude currently, and at sea level a long time ago, this type of heater loses efficiency as the altitude gets higher. But they are still excellent for my purposes in my rental house. They are quiet, put out a fair amount of heat, and the electrician was able to choose among various wattage outputs when he installed them

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I bought this wall register heater to replace one that has been recalled by Cadet earlier in 2002... I bought this wall register heater to replace one that has been recalled by Cadet earlier in 2002. I was able to use the existing can that the older model is in with the new replacement model . The old one came out very nicely and this replacement model fit in very nicely. I hooked it up turned it on and it did exactly what it said it was going to do heated up very nicely. As I said one of the problems I had with the old model was that it frequently needed to be reset .So far so good on the replacement model . The reason for just the 4 star rating instead of the 5 is that I need to wait to see how it performs over a period of time and if I'm going to have the reset issues with it that I had with the old one .Hopefully at some point I'll be able to give it a complete 5 star rating

The baseboard was one of three that are operated by a thermostat. It works very well. I need to wait for winter to be able to say how well it heats. But the operation is relatively quiet. Be sure to calculate circuit load.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent classy solution for my situation My 35 year old La Jolla CA townhouse had radiant ceiling heat. Energy hog, poor heat distribution, potential fire hazard. The Cadet Register plus is a great substitute. Don't need to leave it on all day like the radiant heat. Can come home turn it on and living area feels warm. I have a 240 volt system so the 3 wattage choices of the RMC 162 are perfect. I installed 3 Register Plus units. Looks almost like a central forced air system. Quiet. Good heat distribution. A quality product, even the housing is quality, not cheap galvanized steel, no sharp edges. I installed just below ceiling level so as not to limit furniture placement in my 1100 sq. ft. townhouse. Granted I live in a mild climate, however these units are ideal and they are made in the USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Remodeling Porduct After remodeling 2 baths using this Cadet heater as a replacement for old electric baseboard I decided it would be just perfect for my kitchen remodeling job coming up. Quiet operation and easy installation only makes it even better for a warm toasty bath. Perfect for solving the problem of not being able to use floor space in front of electric baseboard, uses only approximately 1 foot of wall space. I'd recommend this heater to anyone. If you're not comfortable working with electric, use a qualified electrician.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy construction, quiet, and easy to install I installed this item on a remodel of our master bedroom. We had not installed the new sheet rock to it was easy for me to drill into the basement and run a new power cable into a double pole 20 amp breaker, which made the installation very quick on my end. I did set the heater up on two blocks to bring it up higher off the floor, almost a foot and a half. Wiring was simple, and the design will allow you to replace the heater if it goes out with minimal effort (no cutting of drywall). No sharp edges and very sturdy housing. It is very quiet, and when I turned it on for testing, it heats quickly. I imagine with the drywall around it, the noise it generates will be barely noticeable. Make sure you use a 220/240 thermostat for this product.
