Can this be wired with a switch to run the fan only and a separate switch to run the fan+heater?

Asked by Jon August 25, 2019

Answer

Hi Johnathan, Any modifications to the heater will void the warranty and are not suggested. We have the NLW line of heaters if you want a fan only operation and a separate switch to run the fan+heater.

How hot does this unit get to the touch?

Asked by A5 March 3, 2019
1
Answer

Hi ae, The register heater will get up to around 160 degrees on the outer surfaces of the grill. If you're seeking a lower surface temp heater due to children or pets, you may be interested in the SoftHeat baseboards or EnergyPlus models, as they both have the lowest surface temps of our heaters.

How far from an existing electrical outlet should this heater be installed?

Asked by A5 February 23, 2019
1
Answer

Hello AE, You should have any outlet close enough where a cord might dangle in front of the heater. There should not be any outlets directly above or close enough where a cord would be a hazard.

Can you hang on cieling?

Asked by Serg October 24, 2018
1
Answer

Hello, thank you for your question! No you can't hang this heater on the ceiling. The only heater we have approved for ceiling mount is the ComPak plus heater at 1500 watts or less. We recommend 7-10 watts per square foot for a main source of heat so you would need at least 2 of these heaters if not more depending on the heat loss. You may also want to check out the Garage heater RCP402S which is made to heat a 20x20 insulated garage. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Cadet-Com-Pak-1500-Watt-240-Volt-Fan-Forced-In-Wall-Electric-Heater-in-White-No-Thermostat-CSC152W/205544496?keyword=csc152w&semanticToken=200300001+%3E++st%3A%7Bcsc152w%7D%3Ast+cnn%3A%7B0%3A0%7D+cnr%3A%7B8%3A1%7D+cnb%3A%7B9%3A1%7D+oos%3A%7B0%3A1%7D+qu%3A%7Bcsc152w%7D%3Aqu https://www.homedepot.com/p/Cadet-The-Hot-One-4000-Watt-240-Volt-Electric-Garage-Portable-Heater-RCP402S/100351722?keyword=RCP402S&semanticToken=200300000+%3E++st%3A%7Brcp402s%7D%3Ast+cnn%3A%7B0%3A0%7D+cnr%3A%7B8%3A1%7D+cnb%3A%7B9%3A1%7D+oos%3A%7B0%3A1%7D+qu%3A%7Brcp402s%7D%3Aqu+nr%3A%7Brcp402%7D%3Anr

I installed this item on a remodel of our master bedroom. We had not installed the new sheet rock to it was easy for me to drill into the basement and run a new power cable into a double pole 20 amp breaker, which made the installation very quick on my end. I did set the heater up on two blocks to bring it up higher off the floor, almost a foot and a half. Wiring was simple, and the design will allow you to replace the heater if it goes out with minimal effort (no cutting of drywall). No sharp edges and very sturdy housing. It is very quiet, and when I turned it on for testing, it heats quickly. I imagine with the drywall around it, the noise it generates will be barely noticeable. Make sure you use a 220/240 thermostat for this product.

Great product. Ordering was easy and product was shipped quickly. Order arrived on time. Easy to follow instructions. Bought two along with the correct thermostats to update fifty year old baseboard heaters and to give more usable floor space in bedrooms.

I just installed it. It needs to run over the winter for me to provide a review. I was disappointed in the number of installation possibilities. For parallel wiring of two registers on one thermostat, what about the two wires returning to the thermostat and wire-nutting them together in the thermostat box. How about examples how to adjust wattage so the two living spaces have more or less equal heat, even though one has more windows then the other.... -kevin

Hey Kevin,

This for taking the time to leave a review. There are a lot of installation options and it isn't always practical to list every single one in an owner's guide, so we try to provide instructions for the most common installation types. Additional wiring configurations can be found on our YouTube Channel or blog. Regarding your comment on adjusting wattages for different living spaces, you should adjust each heater to fit the needs of the room. You can do that by using our wattage chart on the side of the box. All that being said, we just wanted to make sure that you aren't attempting to install multiple heaters on the same thermostat if the heaters are in different rooms. Each heater should be connected to a thermostat in the same room. We hope that helps. If you have any further questions, please give us a call 855-223-3887.

I've had these for 7 years in my mountain house. I have 14 total. They are a great, value solution to heating bedrooms and bathrooms that are not used very often. You can choose wattage output. I recently had to replace one. I didn't realize when I originally installed them that they are not recommended for altitudes over 7,500 feet. I'm at 10,500 so the fact one had to be replaced is not surprising. I have three connected to one thermostat. This was too much load at full wattage for the thermostat and the 20 amp circuit. My first electrician did not catch this. Just replaced a couple of thermostats and reduced watts on one in the bathroom. All working great now.
