Questions & Answers

is there this type of unit that only needs 110 volts

I have a small A-Frame house in PA about 800 sq.feet it was built in the 60s not overly insulated it has 4# electric baseboard units from when it was built that use a lot of electricity looking to upgrade to more efficient 110 unit or will I have to go to 220 volts to make this happen this is the only heat except for a fireplace? Thank You
Asked by: reds
Only 240 volts available. Check eBay for used portable models that used to be made for 120 volts.

Hello, thank you for your question! The thermostat that mounts to the Softheat baseboards is model EBKN. This is a double pole thermostat and can be used on any of our Softheat Hydronic baseboards. SoftHeat 35 in. 500-Watt 240-Volt Hydronic Electric Baseboard Heater Right Hand Wire White is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as quiet as I hoped We got the "soft heat" hydronic heater to minimize the noises the standard baseboard heaters make when heating and cooling. In general, this works out. Every few minutes, however, there is a fairly loud click/clang that this heater makes. The noise is perhaps a bit louder than the regular electric baseboard, so overall the noise from both is mostly comparable. The heat does seem to be nice and even, and it heats up quickly. Overall it's a heater and it works just fine, but it's a bit louder than I had hoped.
