Questions & Answers

Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heaters, Risk of Freezing?

Looking to install in a mountain cabin rarely inhabited during winters. Wood stove is only other heat source. Outdoor temps could easily go below 10 degrees for extended times, and indoor temps, especially along the walls, could go below freezing. Is there a risk of damage/rupture to the Hydronic heaters? What temp would be too low for the heaters? Thanks
Asked by: knuckles
The fluid is designed not to freeze, even in extreme temperatures, so the risk of damage or rupture to the heater is very low. Be sure to use a positive off double pole thermostat. You can use the EBKN Unit Mount Thermostat for this heater: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cadet-SoftHeat-EBHN-Series-Double-Pole-Integral-22-Amp-End-Cap-Thermostat-Kit-in-White-EBKNW/100120925 Or you can use a wall mount thermostat such as the TH114: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Cadet-Double-Pole-16-Amp-208-240-Volt-Digital-Electronic-Non-programmable-Wall-Thermostat-in-White-TH114/202909807
