AnswersAnswering from memory -- it's been awhile since I had this heater. I don't know if this question can be answered unambiguously, because: 1. I don't think that a specific temperature in degrees can be set on the heater, 2. The instruction manual states the minimum distance (in feet) from the front of the heater to the nearest objects, for safety reasons, so obviously one shouldn't get too close to the heater. 3. Therefore, the temperature elsewhere (WHEREVER it's measured) will depend on the size of the room and the temperature of the outdoor environment. I'm sure this doesn't adequately answer the question. Ultimately, I would go with the stated ratings on the product, i.e., what area is it expected to be able to heat. If then used in an area substantially smaller than stated, the room can be made much warmer than the typical room temperature.

AnswersThe air coming from my heater is not "hot" in the same way a small space heater is, however my 2-car garage warmed up from 49 to 52 F in a couple of hours at a relatively low setting on the heat knob.

This was for my wood shop and I wanted something to keep the shop from being too cold and easily cleanable for dust. The installation was easily done in a corner and elevated to keep it from interfering with work space. I ran a dedicated circuit for power to a receptacle near the heater. So far it is performing very well to maintain the shop at 55 degrees and then will heat up on demand when I am working in the shop.

Box packing is terrible. One thickness of cardboard and no padding (only one cardboard filler piece removed in picture). No wonder people complain about damage. Fortunately the unit is heavy and strong and mine arrived apparently unscathed. Air coming out does seem not hot enough for 4000 watts but that would likely be due to the high volume fan that moves a lot of air over the heater coils. In a very rough test I added 10 degrees air temperature (from 50 to 60 degrees) in about 1/2 hour to my 1 car well insulated and sealed garage/work shop. Of course the concrete floor is a significant heat sink that is tough to heat and also makes for cold feet. I think this will be a very useful tool in my shop. Previously, my very old 1500W radiant heater was good for keeping my pant's legs and my back warm on very cold days if I stood directly in front of it. My somewhat old oil filled 1500W radiator style heater I would just about have to sit on to get warmth and it was slow to produce heat from being switched on. Those old heaters could add maybe a few degrees air temp in an hour. I'm anxious to try the Cadet on a colder day but that may have to wait until next winter now. I like the idea of being able to run the fan without heat for summer air flow and having the garage door open. The heater is heavy enough I'm going to have to design some sort of sturdy swivel mount if I want to wall or ceiling mount and also have the ability to aim the air flow around or across my work space.

I have a basement level attached 2 car garage 24' x 28' with 8" poured foundation walls and a 16' x 7' insulated garage door. The concrete walls provide a low R2 value and the garage door is rated at R7. The ceiling is 9' with W40x12 24' steel beams with 16 gauge floor decking to support a concrete slab (there is another 2 car garage above). The Hot One heater keeps the space at comfortable 67.5 degrees and cycles nicely. I have it on the low setting. It runs about 5 minutes at a time, maybe 2 to 3 times an hour. This is the most economical solution for me, and I'll let you know how the electric bill is once I receive a coupe bills this winter. I set the heater on steel table to keep it off the floor to avoid dirt/dust blowing through the heater. I collect and restore 1960s era pinball machines, so I'll be nice and warm working in the garage this winter. And the machines will like it too! (The gas cans in the pictures below are empty, you shouldn't have any filled gas cans near your heater)...

Works like a champ!
Installed this in my 22'x32' garage/shop and for the first time the garage is a cozy place to hang out and make wood chips. Staying at a comfy 70 degrees with low settings. Well made, quiet and seems to be a quality made product. The only noise from it is the sound of the air being pushed. Fan comes on and off with heater. Mounted it sideways on the wall so the air can be redirected so as not to blow dust on projects when finishing. The bracket may need additional support for this application, it isn't designed for it and sags a little.

A great heater. The heater arrived undamaged. I mounted it to the ceiling of my 2-car garage following the directions, no problem. Once I had the 240 outlet installed it runs like a charm. The fan runs at one speed and is not annoyingly loud. The air is not blasting hot which is very nice but it still gradually warms the space. I smell a slight paint smell from the new heater that I expect to go away with more use.
