I Have a 864 sq ft garage, 3.5 insulation in walls and 6" in the ceiling, I live in Pa. Will this do the job?
Asked by: Leroy
Probably. I have R-28 walls and R-70 ceiling in Montana (gets pretty cold). You're only 200 sq. ft. more. It may run a little more than it does for me but I would think it would do OK.

Plugged in my new "Hot One" and while it blew air, the air wasn't very warm on either high or low. I called Cadet and got what I feel was a run around on the condition of my wiring, the size of the wire, amps output, etc, etc. Question - does the air coming out of the 4000 feel hot, warm, tepid, what?! My 1500 watt heater with fan puts out much hotter air but just not enough.
Asked by: Truk
Truk, Sorry that it felt like we were giving your the run around on the phone. I spoke with our engineering team to get a better understanding. They say that the air might not feel very warm coming out of this heater, but that doesn't mean it isn't working. They say that this heater pushes out a lot of air so that 4,000 watts is more spread out than it would be with your 1500 watt heater, which pushes out a smaller amount of heated air. If you have any issues though, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us so we can make sure we take care of you.

Does the heater make noise? Does it make a whining noise, or is it white fan noise?

I want to use it in a room where I'll be sleeping. White noise is okay but whine like I've heard on other heaters is unacceptable.
Asked by: Billybobjimmyjoe
It does make a fair amount of noise (not a whine just a blowing noise like a powerful fan). Not so much I couldn't sleep with it. If you use the thermostat (don't have it set on full blast or off), it will run till it heats up to the set setting then shut off and come back on when it cools down.

The Hot One 4000-Watt 240-Volt Electric Garage Portable Heater is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fan Blade contacts the shroud on high heat In high heat the fan blade is out of balance and hits the shroud, pretty consistently. In low heat it doesn't. I've noticed that in low heat, the fan doesn't seem to be unbalanced and create shaking, while in high heat, the fan definitely vibrates, creating contact with the shroud. The fan is not centered within the shroud, the blade is really close to the shroud on the lower left side, with the air blowing in your face. If the fan was centered, this may not be a problem. Are there any fixes to resolve the fan contact with the shroud? Other than that, it seems to be a good heater.

Heating capability is acceptable but it came with the fan blade misaligned and hitting the frame making a terrible noise. Factory support said to loosen bolts in rear. This helped but did not solve the problem completely . Finally I put a shim between the back frame and motor support and it is quiet most of the time but not all the time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ineffective Heater “Do not Buy” Bought “the hot one” heater and I am in complete shock at how poor this heater performs. I took it back assuming it was surely faulty. Nope, replacement was just as worthless. As a rule, when I buy something and it underperforms I just deal with it and move on. However, in my opinion, this product is borderline a scam.

It has a thermostat so you can set it for how hot you want to keep it and it will maintain that temp. Like a big milk house heater. Can mount on the wall or ceiling or leave on the floor. Heats garage up pretty quickly.

Like all the other reviews the heating elements do interfere with the fan so it does rattle. Aside from a small bend in the mounting frame upon opening this thing works well.
