Asked by Bob September 11, 2019Hi Ross, There are a few different ways that you are able to clean out the interior of your oven. Self Clean means that your oven door will lock and the oven will become extremely hot and stay that way for several hours. Then, once the oven cools, you will be able to open the door and clean out the ashes from inside. For more information on Self Clean, you can click on this link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19655 - There is also a Steam Clean feature, and this is why you are reading about adding a small amount of water to the bottom of the oven. Steam Clean is less intense than a Self Clean cycle and won't burn away the debris and cooked on messes. Rather, it will loosen the material and make it easier to wipe away.
