Yes. It works good. I have it installed between the compressor and air line.
From what I have been able to find on the Intranet (a 15 sec search) the male (bottom) end is where you attach the air hose and the female (top) is the tool end.
Mark, go to the California Air Tools web page, click on Air Tools & Accessories, click on the picture that looks like this the filter in your question and you will find out what the max air pressure for this filter is.
You have to add the appropriate connections (they don't come with it) male or female to each end.
It should be in the description of the filter. Go to the site where yo purchased and it should be in the specifications for the filter.
Normally one, which is different form a case or pallet.
I wouldn't put it on big industrial compressor, but a small home style compressor it should be fine.
