While this wrench will deform if you don't do prepping of the water heater element screw-head, it will do the job if you do the prep and the price can't be beat. Remove all power supply first!!! Prep the threads on the screw head by soaking with some WD 40 overnight if possible, but at least several hours. Next, using a long but sturdy standard screwdriver and hammer, angle the blade of the screwdriver against one of the edges of the screwhead, then pound with the hammer in a counter clockwise-moving direction against the edge of the element screw-head. Do this on one or more edges of the screwhead. You should pound hard enough to put small dents in the screwhead, which doesn't matter since you are replacing the element anyway. This pounding should be enough to "break" most of the adhesions of the threads, so you can then use the wrench to complete removal. Trying to bull this tool without the prep to help break the thread adhesions will ruin the tool.
