What are the dimensions of the box for pick up

Asked by Tree December 22, 2020

Answer

The dimensions of the box are about 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet by 4 feet. My box is gone and I have had the unit set up for about 2 or 3 weeks. Sorry, I cannot give you better measurements. It took me and my wife about 30-45 minutes to put it together.

Is there an auger clean out setting to assist in vacuuming dust from auger assembly?

Asked by grillman August 25, 2020

Answer

Not sure about any assist with adh removal. All I have seen is the option to dump ash from the fire pot. One thing I have notice over the years of using a pellet grill is that ash can compact and not likely drop out. Vacuum or even just removing by hand any caked up ash

Answer

The main grill is 19" by 22" wide. The smoker is not round; the back side is vertical, allowing for an additional grill 6" by 22" wide. Since it uses a convection fan this "warming grill" gets good exposure to the smoke as well. If you need more area, Camp Chef makes larger units.

5 Year Old and I've Loved It!
I hav ereally enjoyed my DLX pellet grill. I've got the older model but through the years I've never had one single problem with it and it's been a work horse. It's been rock solid and really helped me cook my family some seriously delicious food. I've only recently gifted it to my brother and upgraded to the 36" woodwind but I'm confident the grill will continue to go on for years.

Can't beat it for the money.
Pretty much agree with most of the reviews here. Regarding the front left leg attachment issues, I just started both of the screws a couple of threads first and then tightened them both. A little snug but not a deal breaker. The food though. So far baby back ribs twice, a whole chicken, stuffed chicken breasts and steaks. I can't cook and never could. A little bit of reading and food prep and this grill makes me shine. The sear box (part # PGSEAR) is a really nice addition. I have no complaints.

Easy to use
Bought this a couple weeks ago and have already done reverse seared steaks, pork loin, and brisket. I purchased the seat box and love it. Great way to put a good char on you meat at the end of your smoke. So far it is easy to use and clean. Having put only 20 hours on it, I’m sure there will be more to review. Giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because one of the bolts did not align on the leg assembly and resulted in the bolt stripping out. Not hard to align the holes properly, so a little disappointed that happened for such a pricey device.

Great Smoker!!!!
just buy this grill. The best bang for your buck. And I cook dinner for a family of 5 and this is plenty big enough. Get the sear box and beef jerky rack for extra awesomeness. This grill kills traeger and Rec tec. The pull to empty hot pot is genius. It really smokes great. You can use any pellet on the market. And the food that has came out this bad boy is the best I have ever tasted. I tried reverse searing a steak for the first time. Now thats the only way I will eat steak. It is killer. Just buy it!!!!!

Best money I've spent
Have had the DLX 24 for a couple months now and absolutely love it. No more fighting to keep the temperature right. Highly recommend getting the jerky racks for more cooking surface

Don’t get a Traeger! Buy this one
I bought this over a year ago, and don’t regret it one bit! We use this workhorse at least 3 times a week. From ribs, roasts, jerky, bread to even pizzas! After buying the jerky rack, we can do four pizzas at once. I have four kids, everyone likes the smoke flavor! Not to mention there pellets are cheap too! Love the quick ash clean out option. We still vacuum it out after about three times of use. I see the have newer model out with Wi Fi and the slide gate, but this one works great for us. I feel like it’s going to last quiet a while as long as we maintain it! If your hesitant, don’t be! You won’t be disappointed!

New DLX 24 version
I haven’t used the pellet grill yet, but just put it together today, which was easy. To my surprise, I got the newest version of this model, which is not shown with the online pictures. The new version came with the PID controller with dual meat probes. Can’t wait to try it out.

Great upgrade from electric / wood
I've been considering upgrading from my electric (less smoke / size and not set and forget) & charcoal/wood "mountain" smokers (not set and forget, too long to get set up). A couple friends have this or the woodwind and rave about them. Finally did some reading about how electric smokers smolder the wood so you don't get a good smoke ring or as much smoke flavor and I wanted easy, set and forget type cooking. After tons of review reading I settled on the DLX24 and couldn't be happier I did. It arrived quickly (4 days) and is really well packed. I got a pleasant surprise when I opened the box in that there are a lot of Woodwind features added to this which aren't pictured. The window to the pellet hopper, the bottle opener, the handle on the pellet hopper have all been upgraded over the picture. Setup was quick and easy - was able to do myself and get it seasoning in about 1/2 hour. Didn't have any issue with dents, screws stripping or any things that I've read in other reviews. The only minor issue I had was I didn't catch that when turning the dial to "Feed" you also have to hold the bypass button in for 3 seconds for it to begin feeding. User error and no big deal. Since seasoning I've done porterhouse pork chops (seared on my weber kettle to finish), spatchcock whole chicken, pork shoulder and wings on consecutive days - all were best I've done using any other smoker. I have a bluetooth temp probe and the temperature probe on the DLX controller is spot on with the probe I put on grill with a grill clip. Cooking was truly set it and forget it - temps stayed within 10 degrees-ish of where I'd set it, when it looks like it's getting a bit higher than set it'll begin to drop as the auger has stopped, when it gets a bit below set temp don't worry, auger will start to warm things up. Couldn't be easier. I've done a couple "modifications" to it which have really helped, first I built a shelf between the legs for storage, the legs have holes pre-drilled as I'm sure they're the same legs used on Woodwind which comes with a bottom shelf. A couple pieces of leftover deck board and I was in business. I also bought a box of fire bricks and lined the bottom of the smoker with them, this will be used year round in WI and I wanted to make sure it held heat well and was stable and didn't run through pellets like crazy in the winter. I drilled out the temp probe hole a bit to more easily accommodate multiple probes going through the hole. Lastly I picked up a 6" joint knife to scrape down the drip tray and keep it clean - I'm going to try putting some no-stick grill mats down there next smoke as well to make clean up even easier. Overall, HIGHLY recommended!
