The Campbell Hausfeld gravity feed spray gun is a good sprayer for light to medium weight paints. Paints like latex would be too thick to spray unless it is thinned out some. The sprayer has controls for air and fluid. The gun is made out of metal with the paint cup being the only part not being metal. Low overspray, and easy to clean, make this gun handy for those small projects. I like that it doesnt require a very big air compressor to use, suggesting an air compressor thats rated at 3.2 CFM @ 40 PSI for the minimum requirement to be able to use this sprayer. Sprayer comes with a 1 year warranty, and includes a metal holder that you can use to store the sprayer when not in use or while in use which can come in handy. Overall, I really like this sprayer. One person said that the top is hard to take off, but I find that if you take off the black center plug first, then when you try to remove the paint cup lid, it will relieve the vacuum as you lift the lid and that makes it easier to take off. Sure, it may be better if the lid screwed on, but as it is, if the lid top comes off too easily, then you may wind up with it leaking paint if you hold the gun at certain angles, which is no good either.

I received my Campbell Hausfeld HVLP sprayer today, it is easy to assemble. After reading the directions I don’t believe you could spray latex paint unless you thinned it. I have some wood patio chairs that need paint, but I will use my larger sprayer on them because I don’t want to thin the latex paint, so I decided to use the rest of my waterproofing material on my cedar fence. After straining the waterproofing material, it worked well. The adjustable fan direction was nice, and I liked the air adjustment control to keep it from running. I still used cardboard for the overspray. This is a very fast way to paint and is easy to clean up the spray gun also.

I have mixed feelings on this spray gun, it sprays paint very well and puts down a nice even, smooth coat of paint, without a lot of extra over-spray. However the lid is so poorly designed it just makes it a pain to use. The lid is just pushed into the top of the reservoir and has no good provisions for removing it, sometimes you can get it off by just pushing very hard with your thumbs and wiggling it but most of the time you have to jam a screwdriver under the lip and pry it off, and usually end up spilling paint if there is any left the reservoir. It comes with a nice little holder for holding the paint gun while you are filling it. It does not have any air fittings included. It has a filter that comes with it that goes under the reservoir, it would have been nice if the instructions had mentioned the filter and what to do with it, I had to look at the part breakdown to figure out where it goes. The instructions are good as to how to adjust the paint spray pattern and air pressure but say nothing about whether to leave the vent on the top open or closed while spraying. Final thoughts I really liked the gun, but hated the lid, instructions were so-so, and without the crummy lid it probably would have gotten 5 stars.

Before ordering this gun I read as much about the gun as possible and from what I read it was supposed to spray Latex paint. It will do so after you thin it to water consistency. I didn't feel like I would have any benefit to the latex paint I wanted to use and after painting one railing I decided to paint the rest by hand. So, I returned the gun for credit.

Welcome to the world of HVLP. Now with less overspray it is possible to get a decent paint job. The gun offers numerous adjustments and with a gravity cup balances well. There all the normal adjustment knobs needed to adjust the spray pattern and these knobs move smoothly for fine adjusting. The HVLP feature means lower air pressure and is more forgiving for a non professional painter or pro. I do like the gravity feed cup much more than a siphon feed. It seems to be easier to clean also.

I don't do a lot of painting, but thought I'd try one of these gravity feed type sprayers. These are clear instructions included and it's very simple to use. It sprays a fine mist, if needed and the low overspray cuts down on wasted paint and time. You can fine tune the spray and pattern to suit your project and it's very predictable. The cleanup was easier than expected. These are not crazy expensive like some, but offer great control and finish to your projects.

This is a great spray gun for smaller jobs. I have an airless rig but it takes a lot of setup and paint just to start painting. This gravity fed sprayer eliminates much of the waste and gets you started painting sooner. It does require the paint to be fairly thin so latex will require some thinning. I have not had any luck spraying latex right out of the can. Also, be sure you strain the paint before pouring it in the cup. Cleanup is simple and paint waste is minimal.
