CARLON, 1/2 IN. STRAIGHT LIQUIDTIGHT 1-PIECE FITTING
Asked by: TheDudeOBIDES
The model LN43DA-CTN is 30 per case at just over $1 per fitting. It's almost always cheaper per piece if you buy a case.

Perfect device for flex conduit used in interior or exterior surface applications. Twists into the flex line easily and "O" rings and rubber grommets seal well to prevent water or moisture from entering. I also found that simply grinding off the tread on the male shaft end that it will slip into rigid PVC conduit. It takes just a dab of cement to seal it and then permanently keep it in place. Worked extremely well on a project I had and aesthetically appeared neater than flex. In other words, this one product can be easily used for either flex or rigid conduit.

BACKGROUND: I try to use non-metallic, weather-resistant conduit and fittings for all my outside wiring, especially for my pool and well pumps. The Liquidtight straight fittings work well in my applications. FIT AND FINISH: A simple straight in, PVC fitting with a foam conduit gasket and an O’ring entry seal. OPERATION: Simple to use: Install the fitting and flexible conduit, pull wire, connect and run. For retrofit installation you can pull the wire through the locknut, push the wire through the opening and fitting, then install the fitting and conduit. Either way you get a weatherproof installation. SUMMARY: Great for outdoor or damp installations. PROS: Weather resistant Corrosion resistant.

Carlon ½ inch straight end connectors are designed to terminate LiquidTight ½ inch non-metallic conduit. LiquidTight non-metallic conduit is widely used conduit to make flexible electrical wire connects in outdoor locations. You see it used for outdoor A/C units, pool filter motors, and even light fixtures. The flexible conduct requires end connectors. The threaded end of this straight-line connector inserts into the LiquidTight conduct by twist screwing it into the conduit end. A rubber bushing provides a weather tight seal. The fitting has a removable locking ring, similar to a standard box fitting, that is removed to install the fitting into the box. A rubber O-ring provides a seal when the lock ring is re-installed. The fitting provided a firm and secure, weatherproof connection from the LiquidTight conduct to your device or box. I’ve used these for years and they are flawless.

This fitting is very simple to use and has a perfect fit for 1/2 inch conduit. The fitting is very tight and is nearly water proof. A little silicone to the connection would make it water proof. It has perfect size to fit the junction box and the lock ring is hard plastic, not metal. The gasket is a spongey like material and not an o-ring. The very economical connector is a good part.

These fittings are designed and approved to work with liquidtight non-metallic tubing, making for a very tight raceway in damp and wet conditions, and even dusty environments. As shown in the photo, there is a rubber gasket that seals the cut end of the tubing against the fitting, and the other side has a rubber O-ring and nut, for sealing tightly into the electrical box or threaded weather-tight enclosure. Everything seems to be designed for maximum tightness and ease of installation except for one thing. The paper price sticker printed with the bar code is placed on every single fitting at the point where the rib should be gripping into the inside of the tubing. While I really don’t know if this hinders the ability of the fitting to maintain a tight seal or grip to the tubing, I think that it can’t help. Those ribs were put there for a reason, so covering them up either interferes with the holding ability, or as often happens, the tag bunches up against the gasket, which I think would render the gasket less effective. So, I peel the tag off before pressing the fitting into the tubing. This takes anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds, depending on how tightly it is stuck and how effective my fingernails are at the moment. While I understand that there needs to be some method of indicating the price, a sticker in this location drastically increases the time needed to install it. In any trade, time equals money, so this sticker in this location just made this fitting as much as half a buck more expensive for me to use. Are you listening, Carlon manufacturer? Please come up with a better alternative.

Not too much to say other than that I love these fittings as they make installing electrical conduit much easier, quicker and safer. They're also more "idiot-proof" than the older materials. Whether you're a professional or a DIYer adding a yard light (as in my case this time), these fittings make the whole project much easier. A+ all the way around.

Works great for plumbing up a fountain or setting up fish or other aquatic tanks. We have several turtles and I used these fittings to set up new filtration systems for them and they work great. The rubber seals are really good and has been no signs of leaking. I used just normal 5 gallon Home Depot buckets and drilled the proper size hole in the sides and tops, installed the fittings and hooked up the fountain pumps and hoses. Everything is running great and turtle tanks are nice and clean, and I will say it again, no leaking.
