Is this designed/intended to be installed only in hardwood/laminate floors, or can it be used on carpeted floors as well? Are there any options for a brushed nickel finish (other than painting)? Thanks.
Asked by: Bill
I have mine installed on a slate floor and even though the receptacle supports broke, the installation was easy. For carpeting, it depends on the pile. For thick carpeting I would suggest mounting your floor box right to the subfloor and cut a hole in your carpet for access. For low pile carpet you can mount the flange directly over the carpet.

1-Gang 11.8 cu. in. Non-Metallic Drop-In Floor Box (Case of 5) is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor. Breaks easily Plastic tabs that hold outlet in place break off and the outlet falls out. Do not buy.

The "durable PVC" snapped off and now there is no support for the receptacle. They might look good, but very poorly made and don't last.

Both of them pushed through the holes in the floor because the small plastic tabs that attach to the brass cover on the floor box broke. If you are missing any parts for these or you need to replace parts due to this poor design, you are buying whole new units at $45 each. I wish there was a different option.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke Broke after less than a year. Plastic part just cracked. Maybe used it twice.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good receptacle, worthless hole saw The receptacle seems to be good quality. I bought three sets for three locations in the living room. I went through all three hole saws to make one (1) hole in the hardwood flooring. The hole saws kept stripping out where the saw would just free spin on the arbor. If you buy this product, make sure you buy a proper hole saw! Other than that, installation went well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flawed design The heavy brass top portion is well made. The plastic piece that holds the actual plug-in receptacle breaks easily. This inexpensive plastic piece should be bolstered of thicker plastic or also made of metal for longevity. Cannot recommend this as it stands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap and breaks I have 2 of them and both defective. The receptacle just pushes through. Luckily my basement is exposed where I can repair it but if not it could be a real pain to fix. I am replacing them both.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after a year of light use. Small plastic tabs hold the plastic outlet to the brass flange. After a year of light plugging and unplugging the plastic tabs gave way. now the outlet falls down into the crawl space under the house.
