Answer This Question

A: Pardon, I used mine as a desk and not for food preparation. Since it's not treated with chemicals and in its product description, it was supposed to be made for food preparation and it was made of Birchwood.

A: We apply food safe mineral oil to all our products before they are packaged. We suggest that food safe mineral oil be applied a couple times a year. Food safe mineral oil can be purchased in a drug store or on our website www.catskillcraftsmen.com

Great product and at a great price.

This is the third shelf I purchased from Catskill. The first two are excellent and I purchased them directly from Catskill. The most recent purchase has some minor imperfections in the finish but hard to notice after some treatment with mineral oil. This definitely a go to product if you want to finishing touch to metro shelving.
