Q:Can these tiles be glued on top of a popcorn ceiling?
by|Feb 27, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Ceilume does not recommend gluing any of their tiles directly to a popcorn ceiling. The uneven nature of the popcorn finish makes a poor substrate which will create uneven joint lines and a “lumpy” looking ceiling.

Q:Will the humidity in a bathroom with a shower affect the glue used to hold these tiles in place?
    by|Feb 12, 2021
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  When properly installed, the humidity will not affect the adhesive used to hold these tiles in place. The Fleur-de-lis ceiling tile is a great addition to a bathroom ceiling but Ceilume does not recommend using these tiles in tub or shower surrounds.

        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Ceilume's Class A fire rating addresses the Flame Spread and Smoke Production of the material. All Ceilume ceiling tiles carry this warning on HomeDepot.com: As a general rule, Ceilume Ceiling Tiles and Panels will not be affected by ceiling level temperatures up to 120 °F; in some installations involving halogen lights, metal heat registers, and radiant heat sources (wood stoves, kitchen ovens, etc.), localized ceiling and ceiling tile temperatures can be much higher than anticipated. Ceilume does not recommend using these tiles behind or above a wood stove.

          Fantastic Outcome
I was replicating a scene/themed room from a favorite movie- "Somewhere in Time", circa 1912 era. I'm detail oriented and researched several offerings but selected this offering. I've never installed such but was truly delighted with both its simplicity and result. EVERYONE'S 1st. comment is about this ceiling, indistinguishable from an original tin material ceiling although MUCH easier/quicker to install with NO sag or denting that nailing tin often produces. It became a "fun", if not "therapeutic" project and would strongly recommend such for those wishing to replicate a Victorian look.

            authentic appearance
used these tiles in my bathrooms Have gotten many many compliments. Be sure to read directions as my contractors did not. I used the bronze with wide crown molding that I had to paint to match as the crown only comes in white. Benjamin Moore metallic bronze was a perfect match.

We used these panels to hide a crumbling plaster ceiling in a 100 year old house. The stamped copper look gave a nice retro look to the kitchen. We used a surface mounted grid system to support the panels. The panels are thin and somewhat flexible, easily cut with a tin snips, but sturdy enough to not sag in a 2' x 2' grid system.

              Looks perfect for the space!
We are fixing up an older home and when our entry way ceiling tiles needed to be replaced we couldn't find any so we decided to cover it with the copper ceiling tiles. It looks beautiful and fits in with the age of the home.

              Great product
These ceiling tiles were easy to install. We laid the configuration out on the floor and glued them up one at a time. They cut easily with scissors. My bathroom ceiling is really cool looking. I'm so happy with it.

Kinda difficult to install, but it looks great!!
Be sure your ceiling is FLAT! This stuff looks so good installed but any "features" under it will show through. I did a 9 x 12 room with it, and it took us 4 hours to complete.

              Easy to install. Looks geat!
I had no problem cutting the tiles with sissors to accept the fan, lights and A/C ducts. They fit great either with or without backing tiles. The imprint really looks like an old tin tile.

              We Love These Tiles
We used Fleur-de-lis Faux Copper Ceiling Tiles as the border tiles in our guest apartment. The copper finish goes great with the green in the room and really dresses up a rather boring space. It took us about a day to install the entire ceiling, and no special tools or skills were required (we're average DIYers).
