Rail bar bends when the door is closed. And chain hangs down 2~3 inches below the rail. Is this normal? When the door is opened/opening, bar is straight and chain is well above the bottom rail. But when it's closed, the bar bends little bit makes the chain to hang down 2~3 inches below bottom rail. I tried to adjust little bit so it bends as little as possible; will this damage the rail or even the hinges on the wall that holds the bar? Is this normal? or is my set up wrong? Bending is some what minimal though.
Asked by: SeanK
OMG - our self-threading screws pulled out and disconnected the opener bracket from the door itself, at which point we saw that the bend in the rail was completely gone. But also we saw that the position the bracket HAD been in was way lower than where it now comfortably reached!! SO whether the adjustment could have been made well enough in the control on the motor, or what we don't know. But we shortened the L-shaped arm and created new screw holes to attach the bracket to the garage door up higher and - voila! - NO MORE BEND in the rail at all! It fits perfectly, up or down. I wanted to suggest that the manufacturer might alter their instructions to say specifically to do that in the first place!

Asked by: Jim
Lubricate the tracks and rollers with spray on lithium grease and put chain lubrication on the chain. Make sure the door will roll up and down manually before you try the opener again. You will need to lubricate these parts on a regular basis. Check your manual for how often.

1/2 HP Chain Drive Garage Door Opener is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 458.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Really Disappointed I was replacing a 10 year old Chamberlin unit which had given me Zero issue. I purchased the HD210 from Home Depot. The new unit installed exactly in the place as the old unit, I did have to drill one new hole. I was able to just reuse the old optics, but I did have to replace the old "doorbell" opener. The first issue was with the connection for the wires, the clamp terminals were awful trying to get the wire to stay (plus they felt very fragile) - Chamberlin, spend the $1 extra and go back to screw terminals - they tend to work with no issues. Next issue came with programming, my wife's car was no issue, but it didn't like my car (the old unit worked fine). I went to the bridge site, but even through I bought a new unit it didn't list my unit or car. So now I have to purchase a new another remote. Secondly, since I had another remote - it doesn't work with the new opener. I purchased the Chamberlin thinking since that was what I had that it would be the simplest, most cost effective option, but that turned out to be wrong.

I purchased this model to replace a 1/3 hp liftmaster model 1245r I purchased in 1997. Needless to say I got my monies worth out of that opener. All I had to do was swap out the main unit and the wall buttons. Did not need chain , rail assembly or sensors. Took 30 minutes tops. Wiring is simple. For the price this unit has been great. If it lasts as long as the liftmaster I will be happy. Purchase price was 136.00 for this unit. I use it on a storage building garage. If you want the keypad for this model it can be purchased for 35.00 separately . I would use this model for my car garage when the time comes. The local garage door company wanted 655.00 to do this job. So I saved about 520.00 doing it myself.
