Hello Anita, The distance between the two bottom rails is about 18 inches in width. The rack is designed to hold 1/2 cords of wood, which is four feet long, four feet high, and four feet deep. You may have to position the 12-inch logs at their center to evenly distribute the weight on each side, but it is recommended to stay at the rated cords for this rack. The stated dimensions appear to be incorrect. It says 51-9/16 in. x 24 in. x 56-1/2 in. I don't see anything in the pictures that looks like 24 inches. Please correct or clarify.

How can this hold 1/2 cord? I picked up 1/8 cord wood yesterday, loaded it on the firewood rack and it is completely full. Very disappointed in this purchase

What is the distance between the horizontal bottom rails? I understand that the specs say the rack is 24 inches deep, but if that's the case, typical 18 inch cut firewood would fall in between them. I'm guessing the 24 inch dimension includes the width of the base, but I want to know the measurement before making this purchase.

Only the base itself is 24". The distance from the outside edges of the support bars is 13.5".
Please tell me how many inches of ground clearance this rack has.
The metal is about 7.5 inches off the ground and the wood on it is at least 8 inches above surface
Can you recommend the rack cover (a long one to cover to the ground) that fits with this firewood rack?
No. I ordered this firewood rack on July 17th and arrived at my address on July 22nd. Today, After built it, when I was putting the firewood in, I noticed the coat was already ruined and a big chunk of color was gone as you can see on the picture that I attached. In an year I'll have to dump it because will be completely rusted. I'm pretty disappointed with this product. This is the first time that I have a bad experience with home depot purchases, but this is not the quality that I was expecting for it and for what I paid.
Unfortunately we do not carry this type of cover at this time, but we can provide the dimensions of the firewood rack to help you further your search for your ideal cover. This firewood rack measures 51 9/16 in. x 24 in. x 56 1/2 in. Thank you for your time.
I have not found a cover to fit yet. You will need one that is 48x48 the 48x42 is too short unless you want the wood exposed at the bottom.
