Do the store put grill together when they arrive?

Asked by: sills922
No, if you have it delivered, you assemble it yourself. You should ask your local store if they offer assembly in store or if you would like to buy a display, those come already assembled (as long as you have a way to take it home assembled).

Customer Reviews

Classic Full-Size Charcoal Grill is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 116.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Charcoil Grill on the Big Box Store Market! Heavy gauge steel and deep body makes this thing perfect for smoking ribs, pork, whatever and just regular grilling for steaks, burgers, etc..Great thing about it is that I have not had one issue with flare ups. It gets up to the perfect heat without burning anything and maintains it for quite a while. I have smoked pork shoulders, ribs, beef ribs, brisket, you name it and it does a really good job using indirect heat. The grates are good quality cast iron and are thick so they should last. The key is to season it by spraying grill quality cooking spray all over the inside and light up some charcoal and leave it closed for a couple of hours. I spray the grates down with it after every use so it won't rust. Plus, doing some BBQ smoking with high fat meat seasons it up real good! I did get a rotisserie for it (it says you can't use one) but I did and it works great. Super juicy chicken! Cleanup is a breeze as well. I just can't say enough about this bad boy! Recommend it to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best grill I've ever owned I have owned a slightly smaller CharBroil grill for about 30 years. I have, and still do, love it. This grill is much more substantial in construction than my older one. It really does take two people to put together. I look forward to decades of happy grilling on it. My one disappointment is the casters. They are the weak link on a great product. A more substantial set of casters is needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Grill but not as good as they used to be I just purchased a CB940X grill as I had 2 others before. This new one comes with cheap pine wooden side cutting blocks and handles that are warped right out of the box. I would bet the handle to open the top will break after a few uses. The side cutting blocks rock around and spill any thing that is one them. The old one's came with oak.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just purchased I bought this for a rental property on the coast - average life has been 3 years on previous purchase for 100 less than what i paid for this but was very impressed with this grill. Construction and materials were substantially better than previous purchases and certainly worth the extra 100 - will know more in 3 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous grill This is the replacement for a CB940 we used for over 30 years. This grill has design changes that make it a better product. We are looking forward to using the new grill for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Value in a Charcoal Grill Don't waste money on cheaper charcoal grills, because that's what you'll get....a cheaper grill. This is the perfect grill for a veteran, because it's built like a tank, battleship, A-10 or any other example of the most heavy duty, battle-proven piece of equipment you can think of. Weighing-in at close to 200 lbs, this is the most solid charcoal grill I've ever owned, used or seen. It has a generous, 540 sq inches of cast iron cooking surface, adjustable grates and dampers for convenient temperature control. Plus, it has a removable ash pan to make clean-up/prep a breeze. All the way down to wheels with actual wheel bearings, this is a durable, high-quality unit. My only word of caution would be to people of limited upper body strength, because the lid is very heavy. Whereas, this is an asset to regulating and retaining heat, it could be problematic for some. I consider this grill an excellent value and highly encourage you to consider it when making your purchase decision.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Engineering problems Overall the grill will be as good as the old model after I modify it. Casters that came with unit were not heavy enough for its weight. I installed another pair of large wheels. Unit doesn't draft well, air circulation is at the back of the box, consumes to much charcoal to fast. Fire grate does not cover enough of the area under the grates. Old fire box design was far superior. I extend to have a fire grate made like the old design. I am going to seal the cover to cooker with a gasket and install adjustable air vents to control the fire. I had my original CB940 for almost 15 years and it was great unit. With this units heavy metal construction, and the modifications I plan to make it should cook well and last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality, versatile bbq pit We owned one of these years ago. After many years of use it had to be retired. We then bought an offset smoker/grill to replace but it never was easy to control temperature, etc. with the offset and we never liked it as well as the old Char-broil. The Char-Broil is very heavy duty & durable. Temperature control is very good. The adjustable charcoal grates can be raised & lowered which is a big help. The set up is a little bit of a hassle but be sure to follow the instructions concerning the seasoning of the cast iron cooking grates and keep the ash tray cleaned after each use: this will help prevent rusting (applies to any pit). This is a grill and NOT a smoker although indirect cooking is easy with this pit. I would recommend this grill. It can put out some great grub!
