I wouldn't. While the Akorn probably doesn't get hot enough to ignite the cover it could possibly melt or catch fire if the grill is very hot.

The outside surface of the Akorn never gets that hot. If you can put your hand on it you can cover it with this cover.
NO! trust me I didn`t let my Akorn cool down all the way, cane out later and the coals reignited themselves and ruined the cover.
