Product Overview

A wall outlet just doesn't cut it anymore. Add up to 37 miles of Range Per Hour to your EV with ChargePoint Home Flex, the fast, flexible, and future-proof 240-Volt Level 2 home charger that delivers up to 50 Amps of charging speed. Most drivers will use 32 or 40 Amps. 48 or 50 Amps will give you the fastest charge, but may require electrical upgrades. Use the ChargePoint app to easily manage all of your home and public charging all in one place.
  • Level 2, 240-Volt electric vehicle (EV) charging station charges any EV up to 9X faster than a normal wall outlet, with flexible amperage settings up to 50 Amps (16A-50A) and plug-in or hardwired installation options
  • Works with all electric cars, tested on leading EV models: Chevrolet Volt and Bolt EV, Hyundai Kona and Ioniq, Kia NIRO, Nissan LEAF, Tesla models, Toyota Prius Prime, BMW i3, Honda Clarity, Chrysler Pacifica, Jaguar I-PACE, and many more
  • Charge faster and smarter with the ChargePoint mobile app. Set a schedule to only charge when electricity is cheapest, set reminders so you never forget to plug in, use Alexa voice control, and see all your ChargePoint charging data in one place.
  • Safe and reliable, with a 3-year warranty backed by 24/7 customer support from a company dedicated to EV charging for 10+ years. UL listed for electrical safety, ENERGY STAR certified for efficiency.
  • Easy for any electrician to install indoors or out. Plug-in installation with NEMA 6-50 or 14-50 outlet (14-50 currently selected) requires circuits rated 40A or 50A. For other circuit ratings, the plug is easily removed for hardwired installation. Select the amperage that works best for you and your home, helping to avoid electrical upgrades.
  • Widely eligible for utility rebates and other incentives, including the renewed U. S. federal tax credit for 30% of total station and installation costs, up to $1000.

Can this be plugged into a 220 clothes dryer receptacle?

If the receptacle is a nema 14-50 (or 6-50 for the other model) - yes. Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NEMA_connector and check the diagram for nema 6 and 14 plugs to see if they match yours.

Will the Charge Point work with a 2020 Volvo XC60 Plug in Hybrid?

Asked by Jackie July 8, 2020

Answers

Both the car and the charger have J1772 connectors, so it will work, but it has much more capacity than is necessary for a plugin hybrid. The car comes with a 120v charging cable (level 1 charger) which should give a full charge in about 5 hours (about 4 miles per hour). This charger (level 2) may charge faster (25+ miles per hour) but I couldn't find the maximum power the car will accept so could not confirm if that is true. You could test this using a public level 2 charger. There is a warning in the volvo manual that says "Only use the charging cable provided with your vehicle or a replacement cable purchased from a Volvo retailer."

What is the power output of this charger?

Asked by Sk September 18, 2020

Answers

Hi there! ChargePoint Home Flex has an output power of 3.8kW to 12kW, depending on the rating of the circuit the station is powered by and which amperage rating you select during charger setup. Installing on a 70A/80A circuit for 50A charging has maximum power of 12kW (50A * 240V), and installing on a 50A circuit for 40A charging has maximum power of 9.6kW (40A * 240V). See chargepoint.com/homeinstall for more information.

Can this unit be locked so that no one else can use the charger but the authorized owner?

Asked by Daisy July 22, 2020

No. If you see someone is charging via your app, you can stop the charge. You have to check the app, there's no notification to let you know a charge has started. You could always turn the breaker off but that would be a hassle.

You need to use the app to configure the amps to provide to the car (it's configurable from 16 to 50) based on the capacity of the circuit it's attached to. Charging works automatically without the app.

App is very buggy. Had it hardwired for about a month and there has been times that when I plugged in the car for the whole night and woke up realizing the car is not charged. There was time the car is fully charged and the App was telling me it’s not charging. Being a smart charger is not very smart where every time I plug in I need to make sure it really is charging before I can walk away gives me more trouble than just a non-smart charger. I would not recommend it to anyone out there who’s looking for a level 2 charger. This is too expensive for the stupid problems it has.

Fast Ev charger and awesome app
Juat bought a 2020 Jaguar IPACE and i couldnt be happier with how quickly this charges. I got about 34 miles charge an hour and to my knowledge this is currently the fastest charger non DC out there. This also has auto updates and i heard they had an update and it added 7 miles per hour on max charge all in an update. I’ve never been fond of updates but im looking forward to one on this Charge It 16 to 50 amp. I spent my time getting this “Professionally” installed in my garage and im delighted with it so far. Updates to come. Happy EVing my friends!!!
