    Can you freeze this to keep food cold?

    No clue. But just the idea that a container with food is placed atop of a frozen granite surface does not sound right. Would not to it.

    Would not use plastic ones. I use it not for plates but pan or skillet to keep food warm at the table. Like for fajita or taco. Works fine. For plates I use a different item.

    Yes. In fact you MUST leave the stone in the tray when warming it. The tray does not get hot at all.

    It all depends on the size/power of the microwave. You would probably be safe warming it for two minutes. If it doesn't seem to heat well enough, add another minute, but don't go over three minutes.

    Yes. Only in the microwave. Never in the oven, the pladtic handles will melt.

    I have a large electric warming tray that I use when entertaining or have meals with a number of separate hot items. But I wanted something smaller that I could use when I only had one plate or dish that I wanted to keep warm. This Warming Plate is PERFECT! I put it in the microwave for two minutes and it stays warm for a good half hour. I'll put a single plate on it while I'm finishing the meal preparation and it keeps it warm without burning. The bottom of the warming plate remains warm, but not hot. I'm considering buying a second one.

    I returned the product as it was not as advertised...
    I returned the product as it was not as advertised online. The Chef Buddy online shows a grey granite stone, but the product shipped was made with a white stone, which I found does not perform as well as the grey stone.
