A:Â Our tanks are made with materials that meet the FDA regulations for food grade/Potable water. The tanks will withstand freezing temps as long as you leave room for expansion in the tank before the water freezes

Q:What is the difference between the green 300 gal. tank and the black 300 gal. tank? I want to catch rainwater from the roof and looking for the best option. The green is several hundred dollars different and I'm wondering why. They look the same.

A:Â Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The green tank dimensions are H 60 in, W 45 in, D 45 in. The black one is H 81 in, W 35 in, D 35 in. The green is 21 inches shorter than the black but wider by 20 inches. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

Answer This Question
A:Â Thanks for the reply Chemtainer Service Rep. I actually went out and purchased a elbow fitting and threaded coupling, I completed the install yesterday and all is well. My float valve is coming today and then this project will be complete. :)

A:Â You can install an elbow on the inside if you want It would need to be a 1.5 inch male threaded one
For the leak if you are not able to get it tight enough to stop you may need to pickup a 2 inch EDPM gasket and install it on the outside portion of the bulkhead to help seal it

Cracked Down the Seam
This water tank cracked down the seam in 2.5 years and it's in the shade almost the entire day and I live in an area where in high summer it rarely breaks 90 degrees. A lot of money to spend on something with such a short life expectancy.

First, read Smiddywesson's review. I did and it was of great help. Palleted shrink wrapped tank fit perfectly in my F-150 for the ride home. My tank had no cosmetic damage. Regarding the different sized inlet/outlet openings, who knows? Someone somewhere has justification. Anyway, the PVC plug for the top one is readily available at HD. The three reducers for the bottom outlet are, as well, but you have to look close for the threaded 1 1/2' x 2" - it's not on their website but I found mine mixed in a box of unthreaded ones when poking around. However, because it wasn't on their website I first ordered one online elsewhere at more cost only to find it later at HD. I also used a (copper) hose bib for the outlet which reduced the need for the third reducer. I placed the tank on two pallets with a layer of pavers (left over from another project) to not only clear a bucket but to provide a continuous flat support eliminating spaces between slats the tank may sag into (probably not as it's really thick). Anyway, eezy peezy. I'm using it for an emergency water supply and figure about 6oz of household bleach will provide sufficient treatment.

Holds water well, didn’t give 5 stars because it didn’t look to be made well. Hopefully it will hold up to long term use.

This tank arrived substantially quicker than the estimated date! The driver was absolutely the best delivery person we've dealt with. I was by myself at the time, so there's no way I could drag the tank and skid to the garage. The delivery man helped and was so pleasant about it! For a 300-gallon tank and free delivery, this was by far the most inexpensive water tank. It doesn't look like the picture at all except or being green. It's much wider and shorter. It was delivered wrapped heavily in plastic so we didn't see the "dimples" all over it. They don't seem to be deep enough to cause any leaks, just not aesthetically attractive. Then again, it's a water tank. We hooked it up to a 40-foot pole barn which has a gutter and downspout on one side. Within 3 days and 2" of rain, the tank is full! We reduced the bottom opening to handle a garden hose attachment and put a thick plastic flange around the top lid. The middle of the top lid is removable, so with the inset flange and plastic ducting, the downspout drains directly into the tank top. The upper side opening is working so far as an overflow outlet. We plan to hook up another 100 gallon catchment system to that. We grow an extensive veggie/fruit garden on 1/4 acre and use rainwater for it with an electric pump providing water pressure. So far, we're very pleased! If the surface had been a little less dimpled all over, this would be a 5-star rated tank.

Good product, bad description
I received a TC4560IW. Drawings are seen on chemtainer.com. Top bulkhead in picture not on product received. Tie downs not there. The overflow and inlet are together. Plan to use for water collection, so plan to add back top bulkhead for overflow. Chemtainer has good pdf for outlet connections on their web site.

It’s kind of amazing how badly the joints on these were made one look at them in the store and I sent them back the representatives at the store so they didn’t blame me because they were the worst put together tanks they had ever seen some places had Visibly transparent spots because the joints were so far from being centered highly doubt they would’ve held water
