Montlake 9 ft. Bamboo Market Patio Umbrella in Heather Fern

Right out of the (heavy) box I knew this umbrella was a superior product. I am really impressed with the extremely heavy gauge stainless hardware securing the 8 bamboo rib supports to the hub as well as the stainless used to connect the pole sections. I have never seen construction so substantial. The pin on the dual pulley mechanism is again, stainless, thick and well-machined. This dual pulley system takes some getting used to as it can become tangled in inexperienced hands, however it certainly makes raising the umbrella easy. I wish there was a good way to keep it out of the way but it can be looped up on the ribs if you use care. The cord is thick and looks to be durable. The 9ft diameter canopy is antique beige and would look elegant in any outdoor furniture color scheme without upstaging the natural beauty of the landscape. The natural bamboo ribs are secured into the deep, well-sewn pockets of the canopy. The fabric is 100% UV blocking, fade, water and weather resistant and comes with a five year warranty. It is topped off by a large solid finial. This umbrella needs a stand that accommodates a 1.5" diameter pole. I suggest something heavy to support this umbrella properly. I accidentally had mine open in stormy weather and it performed flawlessly. In a world full of relatively disposable and cheaply made products, the umbrella is a standout for its superior design and construction. It is worth the larger price tag.

It seems you get what you pay for! Expensive but this is an incredible umbrella that is so well made. Its bamboo is very strong and 'high-end'. The pulley system is easy to operate and locks into place with a stainless pin. The canopy material is heavier than most and appears to be able to last a very long time. It is stain and fade resistant. Limited warranty is 3 years for framing and 5 years for fabric.

Coming from Classic Accessories, I knew this would be a high-quality product. I'd previously used a CA grill cover, and have found it to be extremely durable after several years of use. I expect nothing less of this beautiful patio umbrella. Overall, the detailing is just first-rate, with a large solid bamboo finial, and thick support arms, plus a vent at the top to reduce wind gusts. With the rich color of the bamboo, your eye is drawn to the pole - the material looks high quality. It adds so much versus a metal or plastic pole that's just functional, without lending to the aesthetic design. Just a few things you should know about this product: (1) This umbrella requires a third-party base, and the pole is 1.5" (38mm) in diameter. The manual recommends a 50lb base for use with a table, or a 75lb base for stand-alone use. (2) Due to the weight of the bamboo arms, two separate pulley cords are required to hoist the umbrella, and they can become tangled fairly easily (and were wrapped around an arm when I removed the umbrella from the box). I found these cords somewhat unsightly when the umbrella was raised, and there's no good way to secure them to the pole. (3) When the umbrella is closed, there's no strap included to help keep it wrapped tightly, which would have been a nice touch. (4) Classic Accessories is based just outside of Seattle, Washington, and I had high hopes that this would be made in the USA, but alas, it's made in China. In terms of quality, there's nothing to complain about here, but for the price, I think Classic Accessories could have come up with a securing mechanism for the pulley cords when the umbrella is raised, and a securing tie for when it's down. For these reasons, I've knocked off a star on the value rating.

The umbrella in Heather Henna which is a rust colored red is beautiful and the Bamboo frame is very sturdy. I have only had the umbrella for about three weeks , and do not see any fading of the color.

Does not worth the price , big regret top piece came almost separeted from umbrella

The clasp that keeps the umbrella open is attached to the end of the pulley system creating a huge loop that a small child or a pet could get tangled in. There is not an easy way to secure the extra rope to the pole so no one gets caught in it. If I had children nearby I would be uneasy about keeping the umbrella open. It looks great on the patio, but I wish it were sturdier.
