A:  Dustin, Generally the rough opening is the size of the door. So in this case, the opening should be 8 ft. wide, 7 ft. high. Thank you for shopping The Home Depot, the Clopay team.

            Clopay 8'x7'
All in all I believe "Clopay" should incorporate low head room design in all it doors, the reason why "Clopay" only gets one star is because there was a loose sheet metal screw found in the base seal, whilst, always check for foreign debris inside the seal, because when stacking panels the bottom panel will acutely bend if there is such an object loose inside the base seal, (my case), a loose sheet metal screw that attaches the base seal was found to have bent the bottom panel....

CountClopay - Thank you for contacting us. Clopay does have many track options for your installation needs, from standard track, low headroom track, high lift track and follow the roof pitch. If you are needing a different track option for your garage door, please contact Cloapy at 877-526-2050. With regard to the screw in the bottom retainer on bottom of the door, the screw is there to prevent the bottom weatherseal from sliding out of the bottom retainer. Please reach out to Clopay at reviews@clopay.com as we are not sure how the screw in the bottom retainer bend the bottom panel. Thanks! The Clopay Team ClopayGarageDoors

Very easy installation. I have no prior experience messing with doors, even debated on hiring someone. However, the instructions were so on point and descriptive there was no need to hire anyone. Sent extra bolts and screws for spares. Great product for the price!

                    Good door for the money
This is a review for the 9ft tall, 8 ft wide Clopay Value Series door. Despite the long wait time indicated on HD's website for this door, it was delivered in only a couple weeks by a local overhead door company. Don't expect this to come in one big box... each panel is individually wrapped, the tracks are not boxed but are tied together, and all the parts are included in an additional box. I mention this because it makes moving the unassembled door around very easy. Installation was simple and took me about half a day working alone. All parts were included. Read the instructions front to back before starting and install will be a breeze. You will need a few basic tools, primarily a small set of wrenches. Overall, I'm pleased with the door. It was installed in a newly constructed barn. I was planning on building a different type of door for another vehicle bay but instead ordered another one of these doors due to the price and easy of install. My only wish is that they offered a taller door (9 or 10 ft tall)

                    Inexpensive for a reason
This door has caused me quite a bit of trouble. I wanted an inexpensive garage door for my alleyway garage as nothing stays pretty or nice very long if it is near the alley. The good: It is inexpensive. If you are looking at this review you probably are looking for an inexpensive option for a garage door. Nothing fancy, just functional. This door is one of the least expensive around. It doesn't look too bad, the paint is consistent and design doesn't look "cheap." The bad: This thing is fragile, which isn't what you want for something that is out in the elements, under spring tension, and motorized by a 1/2 hp motor. The hinges provided are made of some cheap steel, and I've replaced most of them with more sturdy aftermarket hinges. The doors themselves dent easily, as expected since it is just thin sheet metal. The worst part however is the fact that the main center brace that runs vertically up each panel, the backbone of the door, is literally glued on. I was unfortunate enough to have someone who went overboard with the glue but still not do a great job assemble my door. The glue gave way and the center beam on the top panel, the part that is connected to the track and motor by an arm, separated from the door. This caused the door to lose structural integrity, bending the panel every time the door opened or closed. It was quickly rendered unusable. See the pictures for details. The ugly: the instructions seems generic, as though they give the same one with every model of door. On top of this, they seem to have a lot of parts that are unneeded, making installation more difficult. I work in a STEM field and flip houses but it still was a serious chore for me to install the doors. In conclusion, avoid this garage door. It might cost you more to do so, but it will save you a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.

                    Cheap
I understand that this garage door it the cheapest one that you can get. With that being said, I have 2 of these garage doors that were installed 5 years ago. We never had any issues until this year. the weather has been very cold, in the low 20s and teens. I only say this because I am not sure if the weather had anything to do with the door failing. I opened the first door and it opened fine. I went to shut it and it stopped. I thought that I hit something. So I stood in the garage and shut the door. By doing that I saw that the top panel of the door was bending and was split at the top. That also caused the metal support beam in the middle to come off. We had to release the opener to get the door to shut. The other door did not fail until about 2 weeks later. With that one, the door would not even open. I hit the button, heard a popping sound and knew what had happened. The metal came completely off the door. Like i said, it was cold so i am not sure if that had anything to do with it, but in my opinion, a garage door is made to with stand the cold. So if you are looking for a cheap door that is only going to last a couple years, this will do the trick. But if you want something that is going to last, go with something else. I would rather pay more for a better door upfront, then having to buy a new one every 5 years.

                    Response from THD-Customer SupportFeb 13, 2015
Dear Valued HomeDepot Customer, We reached out to the MFG for more information and below is their response. "In reviewing the pictures that were included with your review, we noticed that the Top Sections are not reinforced, as outlined in the instruction manual on pages 14 & 18, for use with a Garage Door Opener. We recommend that you properly reinforce your new doors per the manufactures instructions to ensure the doors meet your performance expectations when used in conjunction with Garage Door Opener. Clopay engineers our Garage Doors to last a very long time when installed per the manual and with proper installation, your new doors will last a very long time."
