The weight of the box is 200#. Very durable unit. I bought 2! Totally love them.

what is the weight capacity of each shelf

Asked by KTC February 27, 2021

Answer

There is really no weight restrictions on the cabinet, but common sense is key. The shelf’s are made of composite boards and small metal shelf pins hold them up. I would not recommend using this to store heavy items in bulk. Towels, cleaning Supplys , small light things should be fine. Use common sense, hope this was helpful.

How large is the package before assembly ?

The package is about 6foot long and 18 inches wide and is very heavy. Weight is close to 60-80 pounds if not more. You will need help moving and unpacking, keep it close to the place it will be going or you may have trouble moving it once assembly is done. Hope this was helpful.

This is a piece of crap
This storage unit is cheaply made. Nothing is straight. I had high hopes for this.

Provides a lot of extra storage
I needed extra storage in a small bedroom. This holds a lot! I changed the handles, they’re 3 3/4”. I also mounted a mirror inside the door & it shuts fine.

Really pleased!
I've been looking for a pantry for a while and this has been the perfect fit. I was surprised by how easy it was to assemble - if you read the instructions carefully and maybe get one other person to help, it's a piece of cake. The shelves are sturdy and have been holding the weight of my food really well. My only concerns: As another reviewer mentioned, the bottom of the wood panels isn't sealed in any way, so it can't get wet or else it might rot. We put tape along the bottom but it hasn't been a great solution. I haven't been able to get the doors to match *exactly.* They are adjustable hinges so this could be user error though. Overall I'm very pleased. It's roomy, comes together easily, is pretty sturdy, and looks stylish. Would recommend!

For garage or shed, probably great. Maybe not so great as a kitchen pantry.
Table of Contents: - Intro - Gotchas when building - Issues with this cabinet Intro We moved into a home that appeared to have a "roomy" kitchen. Once we got in, we realized it was roomy because there was no pantry or much other kitchen storage, but there was a space on a wall to put one, so we bought this tall cabinet to act as our pantry. we bought the 36"-wide version, which is actually wider than most kitchen pantries. Gotchas when building Gotcha #1: Some parts are labelled differently. It is imperative you verify which part you are working with because, for example, the shelves all look alike. The instructions tell you the various pieces are labelled with stickers (and indeed you will find parts with stickers on them to identify the part). If you KEEP reading that step, they will also tell you that parts have been stamped to identify them. I missed that part. Indeed, some parts are stamped, but only along one "rough edge" that isn't going to be seen when the cabinet is finished. In fact, I stood up these shelves in a way that I could not see the stamps. Because I didn't digest all the instructions, and all the shelves look alike (Except the "C" shelf which has holes), I ended up building the cabinet using the "D" shelves that are supposed to be added later instead of the "E" shelves that are supposed to be built into the cabinet itself. That's right. One of your cabinet shelves is fixed and cannot be moved. The other "E" shelf basically becomes the bottom of the cabinet and not really a shelf at all. So when you're done you have 1 fixed shelf and 2 other shelves you can adjust. Anyway these "E" shelves are 1/2 inch longer because they can fit into the slots in the cabinet walls. If I had accidentally picked up one "E" board and one "D" board, I might have had trouble getting one of the shelves into the slots, but as fate would have it, I magically randomly picked two "D" shelves and because they were the same length, everything went together just fine until about two hours later (my work was interrupted) when I finally noticed the part stamps. Thankfully I hadn't yet hammered the cardboard back panel onto the cabinet, but the glue had dried. I took at all the scres that held the shelves into the sides of the cabinet and the side would not budge. When I pounded each side away from the shelves with my fist to take things apart, some particle board fragments from the slots ended up on the "D" shelf sides and left pits in the shelf slots. I really messed things up! I was able to recover from this blunder by using a little more glue to fill the pits when I finally assembled the cabinet with the correct "E" shelves, then I used sand paper to sand off the extra particle board fragments that came off the slots onto the sides of the "D" shelves which then fit into the cabinet. So if this should happen to you don't despair, especially if you have some kind of power sander. Gotcha #2: The hinges mounted onto the door are supposed to slot into the hinges mounted in the cabinet. You will know in your heart that this is possible because when you get the pieces you have to unscrew the hinges and pull them apart. I'm just the victim on this one. I carefully followed the instructions. You literally can't mount the door hinges in the wrong place. Same with the cabinet hinges, but wouldn't you know when all was said and done, I discovered the two holes that were drilled for the right middle cabinet hinge were just a little off, just enough to prevent the door hinge from slotting in. I spent a good 30 minutes trying to make it work. It was all the more frustrating because you have to apply a little pressure to slot in the hinges and with some pressure the top hinge would slot in or the bottom, but it didn't matter because the middle would not budge. I finally gave up. I rotated the door (they are symmetrical) and attempted to install it on the left side, and although I still had trouble because the screws on these hinges have to be at just the right position (one of them almost all the way out but still fastened and the other one flush with the fixture) that it was still frustrating, but I managed to get all three slotted. With this boost, I then grabbed the other door and tried to slot it into the right, where I ran into the exact same problem as with the first attempt. Once I finally figured out what was going on, I thought I was just out of luck. If this happens to you, try what I did -- unscrew the fricken hinge from the cabinet then slot it into the door, then mount it back onto the cabinet. Such a simple solution, that they could have just put that in the instructions! As it happens though, once I had that hinge together, I could not mount the cabinet side of the hinge back on until I closed the door all the way. Gotcha #3: Door leveling. These hinges allow you to adjust the gap between the door and the cabinet. They also allow you to "shift" the hinge some distance to the side so that the door can be tweaked to tilt one way or the other. Imagine my joy when after wrestling with these hinges just to get the doors on, then close the doors to discover one overlaps the other. Yes, the hinge adjustments worked to make it so that the doors closed without touching, but it was another 30 minutes of adjusting screws, trying to figure out which hinge needed to be adjusted which direction to straighten things out. One might think that the doors should just be straight already if the cabinet had the drilled holes properly registered. Issues with this cabinet If you haven't read the other reviews yet, this whole thing is made of particle board, including the shelves. But hey, great price, right? So if you are just looking for extra storage in your garage for some lightweight items, I think this will work fine for you. But if you are trying to use it to store moderately heavy items, the shelves are gonna sink and bow due to the weight. There are also not enough shelves to really store many small items. So again if you have medium or big items, you will fill up the cabinet, but with small items, like in a pantry, you can't actually utilize all that space. We ended up ordering two extra shelves. You can order extra (or replacement) shelves for this cabinet directly from Closet Maid as Part Number 1210300 (Thank you Closet Maid, for this answer in the Q&A section). I ended up paying about $20 per shelf, and $25 shipping. From the front, these cabinets look pretty good, and from the back, well nobody will ever see the back since it is against the wall, but any visitor to our kitchen will be able to see this cabinet from the side view and it is not a good look. The small gap between the doors on the front and the cabinet run from top to bottom. Yes you can adjust the hinges to change the size of this gap, but if you try to make the gap very small, the doors won't open up quite right. Not thrilled about the little "dot" stickers to cover the numerous screws on the sides either. Of course if you place this where nobody can see the sides of the cabinet, these issues go away. I personally think it would be nice if the doors opened a full 180 degrees, but in our case all we get is about 90 degrees (straight out) which is just as well because we have walkways on either side of this thing, and again, if you had two or three of these side by side, you would probably want that, but if you like to see cabinets wide open like I do, you may be disappointed. By now you may be thinking I am an idiot for buying this cabinet to use as a pantry. Perhaps. If it ends up working out for us, then great! It matches our kitchen cabinet motif (though this cabinet itself looks kinda cheap). If it doesn't work out I am all too happy to replace this thing with a solid wood standing cabinet. You get what you pay for.

Great Cabinet !
Bought this unit at the Evans, Ga store today to use in our hobby room. In the past I have bought and assembled many products from other company's that were a pain to assemble and were flimsy. This unit is very sturdy and easy to assemble, It took about an hour and a half to put together and I'm very pleased with it. I highly recommend it. Caution, the box is very heavy.

I bought four of these cabinets to use in my pantry. They are clean and fresh-looking and pretty stable, especially after screwing into wall. Doors need to be adjusted which can be annoying, but overall they are just what I needed. Well worth the money.

Honestly...the rear bottom part of the base snapped off as I was building it. It still holds great... excellent space saver and even sturdier when attached to the wall. I would still recommend it!!!
