I love this storage system. It is attractive, feels solid and is a better bargain than a custom closet as this is my "starter" home. There are definitely a few caveats that I was not expecting: 1) The drawers are much smaller than the shelf, so you have a lot of wasted space (see pic). I was torn whether to put them in or not as I won't be able to fit the same amount of stuff. 2) Assembly took well over 5 hours as it is pretty involving. We expected about 1 or 2hours max. 3) HD refused to cut the shelves to size - they said their saw will mess up the shelves as the shelves are not solid wood - I had to spend another $75 to buy a circular saw and a special blade and cut them myself. 4) The drawers require an extra pull and push - I believe this is more of a safety feature so that kids cannot pull them out so easily (?). It is fine, but I was not expecting it. Overall the benefits outweigh the cons and would recommend this for people who are looking for a sturdy closet system but do not want to spend a lot of money on a custom solution. I also did not get the shoe rack, but am working with HD for that.

I purchased this item. The three drawers I received are 2 inch short in width. Called Home depot service number. They put me in touch with ClosetMaid. All three of us on the phone. Explained drawers were 2 inch's off. Rep said it was correct part number. I took pictures showing it being not wide enough. She sent a reply back it was correct part number. I took more pics and used a drawer from another unit I ordered that was the same width. It fit. That drawer was 22 3/4 inch's wide. The ones they sent are 20 3/4. Sent that info in. ClosetMaids answer. DO not reply. There help desk rep treated me like I have no clue. Home depot gave me 10% off. I would really like the correct product. It is installed. So it would be a big deal to send back. ClosetMaid has the worst customer service ever. I would think Home depot could help me more. I have attached a Pic showing the side of the drawer in the unit and how it is 1 inch short on that side. Wish I could go lower than one star

Look sturdy and stylish

I've had this system for less than a week and I'm just in LOVE! I purchased this system for my daughter's closet. She's 10 months old now but this system will allow her to grow into the closet. I plan to do work on my boys closet next and will certainly use Closetmaid again. Definitely worth every cent! My master closets will be last. :)

All was relatively easy to assemble

Being in desperate need of a closet make-over, I installed this organizer to replace a single high mounted wire shelf with attached hanging pole. Placing items on the top wire shelf was challenging, and I needed to find a solution. So I was pleased that I would have the ability to tailor the layout of this organizer to suit my needs – particularly giving me the option to decide where to locate drawers and shelving, and how to allocate space for hanging clothes. This organizer gives me ample space for flat storage, and except for items stored on the very top shelf, everything is easily accessible from a standing position. Rarely-needed items can be placed on the top shelf which spans the full width of the closet. My closet measures 23” deep, 95” wide and 108” high, with a 73” opening for double sliding doors. I mounted the organizer just to the right of the middle of the closet width, so that when the sliding doors are opened to one side, I can fully open the drawers (see picture), can have unrestricted access to the shelves and can have some room to the right side of the organizer to hang longer clothes on a single hanging pole. When the closet doors are moved to the other side, I have easy access to a double hanging pole for shirts and pants, and to the shoe organizer, which sits on the floor (see picture). It took me about 6 hours, working at a leisurely pace to assemble the organizer. I like to review all instructions before starting out, but in this case the instructions for each component were placed separately with the component packaging (i.e., with each drawer, the shoe organizer, the top shelf and the main unit). It would have been easier to plan the full assembly if a single set of instructions were provided; instead, I found it necessary to first unpack each separate component in order to find and look at the assembly instructions. Even then, it was not clear to me whether the drawers could be installed after the molding, so I waited to finish assembling the drawers in order to do a test fitting, before proceeding to install the molding. (Turns out the drawers can be installed at any point, even after the whole unit is built). I am pleased with the neutral white finish, which is easy to keep clean and will remain fashionable even as color styles change. I found the fit and finish to be reasonably good, although I saw a silhouette of the underlying joinery of the drawer fronts projecting through the finish. All the wood (including molding) appears to be a pressed-wood composition, but I did not experience any failure during the assembly, and contrary to concerns expressed by some reviewers, the product arrived well packed (double boxed and foam-protected), and undamaged. The elegant molding (see picture) was a pleasant surprise, and helped to disguise some minor gaps between adjacent surfaces. The drawer slides work smoothly, and they snap shut with authority when pushed closed (but they are not self-closing). I was disappointed that the brown steel support under the top shelf stood out like a sore thumb (see picture) – a lack of attention to aesthetics that possibly might be partially hidden by a rack of clothing – but why is this not painted a matching white color? The assembly instructions were brief and for the most part they were well-illustrated. I have a lot of experience assembling furniture, and made only one error relative to the orientation of a particular part that required me to disassemble/reassemble it. Although the assembly requires the use of a significant number of fasteners, there were NO extra fasteners provided. And despite being instructed to glue dowel fasteners, no glue was provided! C’mon Man – a small container of glue would avoid an unnecessary trip to the store. Fortunately, I did not experience any fastener shortage nor did I lose any. However, it would be good if the manufacturer had provided a few extra of the most common fasteners (as well as the glue), since many of the fasteners are a special purpose design (cam locks, cam posts) which, if missing or lost, could be hard to find locally, and potentially stall the project’s completion. Finally, I wish this system was offered as a wall-mounted rather than a floor-standing unit. Because it is a floor-standing unit, any base molding needs to be removed to allow the organizer to hug the back or side walls. Also, a wall-mounted unit would make it easier to keep the floor clean. Despite the floor-standing design and other small annoyances, I am favorably impressed with the end result, which looks and feels very much like a high-end closet organizer costing several times as much as this one (as I can attest, having just installed such a product in a walk-in closet in my house). I would enthusiastically recommend this product to a friend.

I love the way the system turned out. My Dad helped me to install it and it took two days to get it in. I didn't have the right saw blade to cut the rods but was able to buy one. Nice that it is customizable to the space. It looks great and I couldn't be happier!
