Cleans up messy storage of fishing rods by putting them somewhere that is out of the way. I was able to put all my rods and reels up, to include a 14 foot surf rod and reel. It takes about 2 minutes to install.

This product is excellent and creates space where there was none. I have had these on my garage door for a couple years now and works great with no issues on the functioning of the components. It does not cause any issues with the garage components as the springs are what actually lifts the garage door and the motor just assists the springs. With a balanced garage door (you can tell if it is balanced by pulling the red lever on the rail when the door is down and disconnecting it from the motor then you should be able to easily open the door to half way and let go. If it stays in place at the halfway point it is balanced.) the next adjustment on the springs which is a 1/4 turn on the springs relates to @ 150 lbs of upwards force so you can add a lot of equipment without adjusting the springs. A 1/2 horsepower motor is rated for 300 lbs and a 3/4 horsepower is rated for 400 lbs also. You are well within the capabilities of the springs and the motor. When attached the Cobra racks actually act as another vertical doubler which strengthens the panel also. The garage mechanisms are not fragile to say the least and are able to hold everything from fishing rods to garden tools without an issue. These are now being sold by some garage door installers also. I love these and they have helped out with a lot of my storage issues.

Please don’t do this… this will add weight to the door that the springs are not balanced for.. adding anything to your door such as this or the popular add your own insulation puts a bind on your springs and shortens the life.. and could stop your door from opening in the long run… just don’t it will save you a headache in the long run.

Broke my garage door
The extra weight of 5 fishing poles broke the mechanism on the chain that pulls up the door after a week. The poles weighed about 5 lbs max. The poles were not large bait casters but rather small bass poles. I love the idea but this ended up costing more money.

Quality/workmanship is great; unfortunately they do not work on my garage door, which I'm pretty sure is not unusual (insulated). I double-checked both the description at homedepot.com and the manufacturer website: no indication of anything I needed to measure/check beyond width of panels. Bummed as I was super excited to use these. I hope they'll take them back.
