Answer

most pellet stoves produce enough heat even on low for 1200 square feet. Our stoves have ECO that if you set the temp to say 70 it will turn off as to not overheat the space. The unit will stay off until it drops 3 degrees in the room below set temp and turn back on.

Does this require a hearth pad under it?

you can download the manual before purchasing and it provides sufficient instructions and materials you'll need to use. You can find most of the materials (pipes) on Home Depot website which come in kits.

Thank You Jessica Murchison for all your help on our new stove. We love it.

How do you adjust the air flow gate? The manual references it one time with a hard to understand picture.

There are two airflow gates. One in front of the burn pot inside the front door is for the air wash glass. The other airflow gate is on the 2 inch pipe inside the stove.

Nice and warm.
Have been usung this stove for a few weeks now. Very easy set up. The hopper could be a little bigger and smoother to prevent pellit binding. Considering buying a hopper extention for next season.Over all, it lights very quickly and puts out a ton of heat.

We had a 30 year old Whitfield Pellet Stove, it was a work horse for sure. All of the parts started to go on it and since it was so old they were also hard to get. I did a lot of research and found this ComfortBilt. Home Depot did not have it in stock so I found a Hearth Store in my area that did and went to look at it in person. It was just what I wanted, however the Heart Stores price was way out of line. I ordered this from the Depot and it came in 5 days earlier then they said which I was thrilled about. It was no problem installing it since we already had all of the piping and venting from our old stove. The ComfortBilt is "digital" so it took us some time to figure it out and how to adjust the heat and blower since our Whitfield was just lite and turn the pellet count up and blower up. It's been running now for 3 days and we are very happy with it. Still some "tweaking" we have to learn would recommend it highly especially for first time pellet users. Dislikes: The hole to the pellet bin is way to small, can't just empty the entire bag in like with our Whitfield because they go all over the place. Takes awhile to ignite like 5 to 6 minutes, not use to that but we will adjust. Can't check in the pellet bin to see if you need more pellets because it will shut off and not start up again for 30 minutes (safety issue) But so far it has met all of our expectations. We had to clean our Whitfield EVERYDAY which was a pain so looking forward to only doing our CB every 3 days (depending on use that is) Great price for the overall quality of the stove and would highly recommend.

Hopper Defect
Purchased this stove last month. Installation was pretty simple, stove looks nice. Due to a hopper malfunction, however, the stove would frequently turn off after just a couple of hours of being turned on. The code would read check hopper or burn pot. When assessing the problem, it was found that the auger had no pellets to feed because of how they empty into the bottom of the hopper. The stove description states that the hopper holds a 40lb bag but in reality, it may hold 3/4 of a 40lb bag. Furthermore, I called and spoke with a ComfortBilt service technician regarding the problem and they are aware of it and are manufacturing a hopper extension to be placed on top of the unit and can be purchased for approx. $90. This, in my opinion, would take away from the aesthetics of the unit as a whole and pretty much solidified my decision to send the unit back. Shipping, delivery and pick-up, went very smooth and Home Depot did a fantastic job facilitating the exchange. Their local customer service team was outstanding.

We, just 2 days ago, installed this unit in our 2200 sq. ft. manufactured home and so far it heats sufficiently in about half of our home. The bedrooms and master bath are not heated to my satisfaction, however, in all fairness, I only have the temperature set at 71* so before I can honestly give a firm rating I will use it every day and maybe have a different outlook later

We have a 600 sq ft A Frame - here are the pros: 1. It arrived quickly, ahead of schedule 2. It is beautiful when tje fire lights the cabin 3. It was easy to install, hardest part was creative venting out an AFrame roof 4. Running in eco-mode this first week with lows in 20’s we are using 1 bag every 36 hours 5.
