A: I mounted mine under a roof of an outdoor porch. It's exposed to blowing rain, moisture, blowing snow, but not direct rain or snow. It does quite well. Especially important is that tiny little bugs can't get inside it!!
A: This fixture has rubber gaskets to seal it up against the weather, so I imagine it could be installed upside-down. The key would be to make sure the glass shade is screwed in correctly onto its gasket.
A: I have installed one horizontally and two vertically (as pictured). I see no reason why it could not be installed upside down but it would be more prone to leakage if exposed to the weather.
A: Yes When I mounted mine it appeared to align with a junction box as well
A: The fixture isn't designed to mount on an existing junction box--it's designed to stand alone, to be its own junction box. You would have to drill some holes in it to mount it to an existing box. It's aluminum so you could do that but it might not be so waterproof afterwards.
