The Commercial Electric 5/6 in. Color temperature select LED downlight is an easy way to upgrade your existing can lights to the sleek look of recessed lighting and LED energy efficient technology. These LED downlights are compatible with most dimmer switches and are equipped with a unique color temperature (CCT) changing technology. Now you can select your color temperature depending on your needs or preferences with the flip of a switch located on the back of the downlight. Test different color temperatures before installation and never be dissatisfied with CCT again. Color temperature of these LED downlights ranges from Warm White (2700K) to-daylight (5000K), with 3 options in between: Soft White (3000K), Neutral White (3500K) and Bright White (4000K). Using only 9.5-Watt of energy but produce brightness comparable to a 75-Watt incandescent bulb, these LED downlight bulbs are estimated to cost only $1.53 per-year to operate. Additionally, these LED downlights are rated to last for 50,000-hours or approximately 34-years. That is 50 times longer than a traditional incandescent BR30 lightbulb, which these downlights are used most commonly to replace. Compatible with most 5 in. and 6 in. recessed housings and equipped with a medium (E26) socket base adapter for easy installation.

As the manufacturer, we can happily confirm that a 4-3/4 inch inside diameter is the standard opening measurement for a traditional 5-inch recessed "can" housing. Since our Commercial Electric 5/6-inch Integrated LED Trim is designed to adapt flexibly to both 5-inch and 6-inch housings, it will slide right in without any trouble. How to Install It in Your Can: Adjust the Torsion Springs: Out of the box, the metal torsion spring clips on the sides of the light are usually spaced wide for a 6-inch can. To fit your 4-3/4 inch Thomas housing, simply press the metal spring brackets inward and move the screws into the designated inner slots marked for 5-inch placement.Use the Screw-in Adapter: You won't need to worry about tricky wiring! The light includes an E26 medium socket adapter that screws directly into your existing Thomas lightbulb socket just like a normal bulb.Hook and Slide Up: Once the adapter is screwed in, plug it into the back of the LED fixture, hook the torsion springs into the built-in receiver brackets inside your Thomas can, and gently push the light upward until it sits flat against your ceiling. Don't forget to flip the color temperature switch on the back of the light to test out the 5 different ambiance options (from soft warm white to crisp daylight) before you push it all the way up into the ceiling! We hope this upgrade brings a beautiful, modern look to your room! If you get into the ceiling and find that your specific Thomas cans are missing the internal hook tabs, or if you run into any other installation snags, please reach out to us at customerservice@leedarson.com. We are always here to help make your project a success!
Yes, you can absolutely use these retrofit trims with your spring-clip cans, as they are specifically engineered to support that exact type of fixture. Your existing ceiling housing relies on C-shaped tension clips (often called friction tabs or spring-clip receivers) mounted on the inside walls of the metal can. This 4-pack of LED trims comes right out of the box equipped with adjustable torsion springs (the V-shaped wire wings) that are designed to compress and slide directly up into those very slots. How to Install Them in Your Cans: Locate the brackets: Look inside your ceiling can to spot the two metal loops or tabs on opposite sides. Squeeze the wires: Pinch the V-shaped wire springs on the sides of the new LED trim together. Hook and push: Guide the pinched wire ends directly into the C-clips inside the can, let go so they spread wide inside the hook, and gently push the light trim upward until it sits flush against your drywall. Alternative Option (If your tabs are missing):If you get up on a ladder and notice your older cans are completely smooth on the inside and missing those internal hook brackets entirely, the torsion springs won't have anything to grab onto. If that is the case, you do not need to buy a different light model! You can simply buy a pack of Recessed Can Friction Clips / Retrofit Bands at your local Home Depot. These budget-friendly metal bands snap right onto the lip of your smooth cans to create instant mounting slots for these exact LED trims.
