I'm encountering telephone line and RF interference using wireless telephone and headsets when these lights are on. What could be the cause?
Asked by: BuzzingEars
It has nothing to do with the housing - it's the bulb you are using. If you're using CFL bulbs, try LEDs. It you're using LED bulbs, trying a different brand. Remove all of the bulbs (if more than one), and put one of the new ones in, and turn the lights back on to see if it solved the problem. If it did, replace all of the other bulbs with the same make/model.

Asked by: marc
This model (SKU#693064) requires 6 1/4" holes to be drilled. I used the Milwaukee adjustable hole saw to cut the holes in my drywall ceiling. The saw didn't have any problems cutting four holes through the sheetrock.

I was convinced to purchase the light housing by the advertising and price for a replacement of five old non-IC rated cans covered by insulation, as cited by the home inspector for a buyer, after 23 years of ownership without any problem. The method of securing the housing between the housing lip and clips holding onto the sheet rock was not certain, despite advertised claims of being able to work on 3/8" sheet rock, which unfortunately was used in my house, and the previously larger-than-necessary-holes that existed, in some cases. I will acknowledge that some of the existing holes in the sheet rock in my house were larger than specified. But despite using the old housings to fabricate wider flanges for the new housings, which took much labor, and a lot of thought, I ran into a problem with the housing clips. Those clips did not work well, at least on 3/8" sheet rock. But I was able to make them work satisfactorily by holding the clip in one hand, and by using lineman's pliers I bent the end of the clip slightly, to allow the end to dig into the back side of the sheet rock, which made it work like a charm. But you must do this judiciously, as it appears to be hardened and may break if bent too aggressively. The price of this product was attractive. Why does the manufacturer have such small flanges, when the integrated light and trim ring is certainly large enough to cover a wider flange?

Only lighting before was from the ceiling fans. These go in super simple as long as you know where your trusses are in your attic before drilling out your 6.25" hole. Once the hole is cut you slap this baby up in there and use a flat head screw driver to get the clips nice and tight. If cutting your hole immediately next to a truss you will have to pay attention to where your clips are going BEFORE you start pushing them in...not so easy to get them back out after going in. Wires are easy to install as they come pre-fabbed with the push in connectors. You should be able to do most everything without even getting into your attic until you are ready to wire them to the switch.
