I'm seeing responses here saying that you can not use new construction if the ceiling is already installed. Only remodel cans. This is completely false! If you have a ceiling in place BUT have access above to get in between the joists. You can absolutely use new construction than! It will save you a significant amount of money! Box of ic airtight remodel is about $96 vs. a box of new construction ic airtight for $36
Austin Mention "The packaging further indicates not to use this housing with any LED retrofit kits except those made by the manufacturer." I am planning to use COSTCO LED lights kit. Is this means I cannot use them??
No, the product cannot be used outdoors.
You need to use smaller can lights then to pass fire code. The top cannot touch -- even if you use low-watt bulbs, the next person who buys your house may not. You can get shallower lights.
They are approved for DAMP locations. If they are protected form direct moisture or rain ,I think they would be ok installed in a soffit NOT the facia
no it can not
I'm not an electrician but I believe it depends on how many watts are being used by each one. I used LED lights which only pull about 9 watts each. From what I have read, on a 20 amp circuit you have 2400 watts so it really depends on what else you have on that circuit.
I had the same question for the guy at the store. He said it's just the brand name of Halo.
I want to clarify a poorly answered question by Customer Service here. 1st off a typical breaker is 15amp, not 16. 2nd, 12-18 lights is was too many for that size room. 8-10 is sufficient.
I believe 60 watts.
