I was thinking about running security cameras through this and was curious if it can pass POE without any problems. I am using a junction box but was curious if there was concern this couldnt handle constant POE through it.

Can I put to 2 sets of wires in these connections to feed another jack?
Asked by: Krumville
Sorry, but this fairly simple question is going to require a more complicated answer. Let's first call that technique by it's industry standard name. What you are referring to is called "Daisy-Chaining." If you are using these jacks for anything analog (like an old fashion single telephone line a.k.a., a Land Line), then the answer is "Yes - you can daisy-chain." But if you are using a digital signal of any sort (like Digital Phones or Ethernet), then the answer is "No." No, because digital technologies require that each device be interdependently connected to some sort of hub (like a PBX, a Data Switch or a Router). Keep in mind that the Internet uses Ethernet to transmit the signal. Having said all that, let's assume that you are referring to an analog signal and that your question is really down to a physical one. i.e., "Can the wires that connect to this jack be 'looped' so as to continue on to the next jack?" The answer to that question is "Yes." If you are using a common type of punch-down tool, most tools allow you to flip the blade around (end-for-end) so that the cut-off end is not in play. The opposite side is for looping and does no have a cut-off edge. Hope this helps. BTW: When RJ45 jacks first appeared on the market for use on those old Merlin phone systems and for Ethernet, electricians would routinely wire them in a daisy-chain fashion only to find that everything had to be ripped out and rewired. This was a very frequent occurrence during the late 80's through the early 90's. Fortunes were literally made and lost over this single issue - made by a new breed of cabling contractors and lost by inexperienced electricians. So, it's good that you asked.
