There is a green section in the middle of Commercial Electric digital multimeter 300V when you turn Commercial Electric BMM-8132R over to its back. Loose a screw at the bottom of the green section. Remove the green section, then you can install two AAA batteries for this multimeter.

Do this item(comm.elec.#bmm-8132r)have the capability of checking continuity&ohm

The simple answer between DC Voltage test and AC voltage test is DC Voltage testing for measuring batteries and AC Voltage testing for measuring wall outlets (receptacles).

Commercial Electric Digital Multimeter BMM-8132R's resistance range is from 0 to 2K (2000) Ohm. The LCD screen will display "1" before any measured readings. If the measurement is under 2K Ohm, then the reading will show the measured resistance number. If the measurement is over 2K Ohm, then the LCD screen will display "1".

How to read the resitance? It's different from others.

Commercial Electric Digital Multimeter BMM-8132R is the simplest digital multimeter at Home Depot store. The resistance range is from 0 to 2K (2000) Ohm. The LCD screen will display "1" before any measured readings. Please see the manual page 7 Operation 2 "Completing a resistance measurement".

can i test my car battery and if so which setting and what reading would be good

Yes you can setting is the V with the solid and dashed lines which means volts DC. Any reading above 12.5 is ok. But if you are having starting problems take battery to an auto parts store and they can tell if you have any bad cells which a metter cannot do.

Only complaint is that the test leads are not uncovered sufficiently, only about 1/8 inch, too little exposure to be easily placed in contact with the sources being measured. It is necessary to trim the insulation back 1/4 inch or more. With that caveat I can recommend the product
