AnswersI suppose yes, because the purpose of any motion sensor is to on/off the electrical feed to the outlet to which the lights and electrical converter/plug are connected to, and they should receive/or-not 120v depending on the on/off condition of the motion sensor.

Answersthe string of lights inside the tube appear to be each interconnected with slim resistors and I do not think a clean cut may work, you should consult the manufacturer.

These are not supreme quality. I bought a total of (2) 40' sections and (2) 24' sections. Each is a series of 8' sections that is connectable to another. Among the sixteen sections that came altogether, there were (6) that were either partially or totally deficient. The only reason I bought these again was because I had already sunken so much cost.

These candy cane style lights are exactly what I was seeking for the columns on my porch. This is a 40-foot set with a detachable plug, and can be extended by adding additional sets of lights via a simple screw-in connector at the end of the set (hence the removable plug, so you can plug these in directly or use as an extension to an existing set.)
The lights are bright and feature a soft white and red coloration evocative of traditional holiday lights. There is no in-line power, meaning when you plug them in, they turn on, which is perfect for my outdoor smart power controller (or any power controller).
