A: I don’t remember how long the screws were but I put mine on a lath and plaster wall which is probably the same size as two 1/2” pieces of drywall. I used the template supplied, cut the hole on the line of the template and there was no problem. The wall plate should stay pretty tight in the hole even without using the screws.
