Happy to clear things up, Chet. Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control will not corrode steel surfaces and can be used on those areas as well. However, keep in mind that water would wash off the product. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Instead of attacking the symptom, find the cause. There's a source of moisture that must be found and cured - otherwise, you'll find yourself doing roof repairs again. When they replaced the decking, did anybody check the moister content of the rafters or pre-treat for residual mold spores? Here's another possibility: If your house is air conditioned and the attic isn't insulated, you might have condensation forming where cool meets hot. Get a hygrometer to measure your indoor humidity levels in the attic. An attic exhaust fan might be the solution.

Thank you for reaching out, Jeff! Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control needs to have direct contact with mold to be able to properly eliminate it. If the mold is deep within the wood, it may be difficult for the product to reach all the mold spores. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Asked by Phil May 20, 2021

Answer

Happy to help Phil. Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control does eliminate mold as well as the odors caused by mold and mildew. For vulnerable surfaces, those are surfaces that may be exposed to moisture or even periodic moisture, Mold Control should be occasionally reapplied. Mold Control must touch the mold for it to be eliminated, crawl spaces can sometimes have recessed or small areas where the fog may not reach. Mold Control can then be sprayed into those areas. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

Do you have to buy this product if I'm buying the zinger mold killing primer?

Asked by Sissy May 5, 2021

Answer

Thank you for reaching out! Our Zinsser Mold Killing Primer is a one of a kind specialty primer, and may be applied directly over existing mold and mildew; there is no need to kill or remove it prior to priming. Once the surface has been primed, we recommend painting with a mold resistant paint, such as our Zinsser Perma-White Mold & Mildew-Proof Paint: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Zinsser-Perma-White-1-gal-Mold-Mildew-Proof-Satin-Interior-Paint-2-Pack-02711/202058887 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Glad to help out, Eddie! Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control can be used to kill the mold off of painted sheet rock. Keep in mind that this product won't be able to remove the stains left behind from the mold. For that, you'll need to use Rust-Oleum Concrobium Duo Blast or a similar product. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Concrobium-33-8-oz-Duo-Blast-Mold-and-Mildew-Deep-Stain-Remover-029-6670/305195647 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

I Worked In Mold Remediation In Lafayette For 12 Years, This Product is Junk!
I Worked In Mold Remediation In Lafayette For 12 Years, This Product is Junk... I had worked in and around the Lafayette & West Lafayette area for well over a decade providing services which included Mold Remediation, Isolation & Removal. Often times some mold/mildew spots were so minor that we could effectively use bleach/peroxide & distilled water solution to kill the fungus. But, once in a while, the mold/mildew growth was indeed so advanced, that more drastic measures were necessary. But of all the chemicals we had employed for mold/mildew removal and blockage, this product is definitely my LEAST favorite! I am renovating a garage and when we gutted the garage down to the bare studs, we discovered some light growth of mold in one corner near the overhead door. The spot wasn't that big, probably about 12-15 Sq ft total growth accumulation spread out over 8-10 ft of wall space. I figured I would give this product a chance, but accomplished no visible results. Even after eventually applying an entire gallon of this product, I was unable to detect ANY degree of mold/mildew remediation from the affected area. In the end, I truly felt as though this was about the equivalent of spraying plain tap water onto the mold/mildew growth... There was NO visible change of any kind. Very disappointing, and I will be resorting to the tried & true application of bleach, peroxide & distilled water. * I have attached pictures of the treatment spots in question. These images are the AFTER pictures, and having waited about 4 hours to see if the effects were gradual. But, as you can see, the mold/mildew remained untouched. I did not get before pictures, but I was not expecting to have any issues, so I did not think it would be necessary.

Let's see what we can figure out. Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control eliminates mold, it is not a mold stain remover. The effective way to eliminate mold and remove the stains would be to first apply Mold Control in a thin even layer over the affected surface, allow to dry completely. Mold control works as it dries by crushing mold spores at the roots. Once completely dry the mold will be eliminated, even if mold stains remain. Next use Concrobium Duo Blast Mold & Mildew Deep Stain Remover on the mold stains, following the application directions of on the back of the bottle. Once and stains have been removed apply Mold Control again on those areas, allowing to air dry. This will effectively remove the mold and the mold stains.

We pulled tile off the wall and found it covered with black yuck. Thought I'd give this product a try - mostly because it had no VOCs. I followed the instructions and BAM - it knocked down the yuck. Because the drywall was gross, I scrubbed the black off and did another application. Looks perfect now. We can retile the backsplash and are confident that Mold Control will prevent further growth. Awesome stuff!

It depends on the situation it worked in my husband shower where it could dry well but when my real estate client used it in his crawl space for fungal growth it did not kill all of it and he used twice as much as was recommended in a fogging machine. :( that's when it's important that it work well.

Thank you for sharing your experience and providing this feedback on our Concrobium Mold Control. If a crawl space has a severe amount of mold or mildew, we do suggest using a cold fogger to ensure that all surfaces are reached evenly with the Mold Control. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

I wanted to believe in this product after some of the positive reviews, I follow the instructions as the manufacturer recommends and I did not see and difference whatsoever. I treated a small section and right next to it I treated with bleach, I have attached some side-by-side photos so you can compare, the section treated with Concrobium has little to no effect over the mold while the bleach side looks much better. Don't waste your money on this.

Oh no, something is amiss here! Rust-Oleum Concrobium Mold Control effectively eliminates and prevents mold with no bleach, ammonia or VOC's. After applying a thin layer of Mold Control over the affected surface mold spores are crushed as it dries, eliminating mold at the roots. After using Mold Control to eliminate mold, stains may remain since this is not a mold stain remover. For mold stains Rust-Oleum Concrobium Duo Blast Mold & Mildew Deep Stain Remover is very effective.

A great product! We had walls and ceilings covered with mold from water damage. We used a scrub brush and Concrobium and all the mold disappeared. We washed the surfaces and used a primer to prepare the walls and ceiling for paint. Wow, this product did a great job with no toxic fumes.(See the attached image of the product in use.) We have purchased 6 gallons of Concrobium. It does appear to be more expensive than the competitors' similar products.

My home has flooded 2 times this year. My sister researched the product and bought it after floods from Harvey. I researched and asked contractors what they were using. The ones I asked were using Concrobium Mold Control. So we decided it was the product to use. I cannot testify that the mold is gone after spraying but I can testify that any flood odor we had before is gone. We chose to use the product the second time we flooded only 4 months apart. I would use it again but pray I dont have to. I would have given 5 stars but since I havent used a microscope to see the mold I cannot testify to all mold being gone but feel like it probably is as product states.

Hi Mimi,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. To set your mind at ease, once Concrobium Mold Control dried onto the surface, it eliminated any mold on the surface. However, since the product is non-toxic, it does not contain any whiteners or bleach to remove any stubborn staining afterwards. You can follow up with a Concrobium Mold Control-dampened cloth or sponge to wipe the surface clean or use a cosmetic cleaner to remove any stubborn staining. Once the stains have been removed, reapply Concrobium Mold Control to prevent further growth.

We hope this new information is helpful. concrobium

Concrobium works very well but be patient or you'll be sorry, as I was. You have to let the spray dry to the touch. Wait six hours or overnight. If you don't wait, you'll smear the Mold Control as I did. This stuff works like nothing else. It pulls the mold to the surface where it wipes off effortlessly. How well does it work? Swipe across the dried walls and the nasty gray mold sticks to individual sheets so well, that one light pass of your hand leaves the wall like it's freshly painted, not a blotchy mess.
