A: I applied 3 coats of the preservative to bare wood using a brush so it was well soaked in the early summer. I found perhaps 95% of the smell went away in about 2 weeks. Sunlight and dry weather are probably your best friends with the smell. It took several months to go away completely.
A: Nope! It took long time before it dissipated some of my work clothes still smell of it after several washes the only thing that helps, is rinsing brushes in hot water but you wouldn’t want to do it to the treated wood
A: Apply it in a well ventilated area. The odor ts intrinsic to the product, but dissapates quickly. If the odor is troublesome wear a good quality facemask.
A: Time. It just takes time for the solvent to evaporate (dry out) and that will lessen the smell considerably. After a few weeks, the odor should dissipate considerably.
A: The smell dissipates on its own after a short amount of time.
A: Any stain will have an odor which will dissipate in time. This stain should be applied outside. The green color will turn brown as it cures.
A: NO. I have used it many times because it is very effective. I do not find the smell too obnoxious but it will last several months.
A: I do not know, but I would not see any wood that would not be exposed to outside elements.
A: This product is a solvent based wood preservative, which is very toxic according to the label. According to the label, this product is a fungicide and will also kill termites. If the item were treated a couple of years ago, the solvent is probably mostly evaporated, and you might be able to paint it and bring it into your house. Before you decide, however, consider whether you would bring a lead-painted cabinet into your house. Eventually, some paint might chip or be scratched and present a hazard to children and pets. I would not consider placing the cabinet in or near any food preparation area, regardless of the sealer you might apply. Sorry for delivering bad news.
A: I have only used this on wood.
A: I’m sure you could but it will most likely end up being green.
A: I personally would not put it on canvas, not sure what the manufacture says, has a green color and a strong Odor, and maybe toxic, read the label and make your own decision, I only used it for treating wood, and it works great. In
A: Your tipi will be green and have an unpleasant odor if you use this product. I would look for a product specifically made for your intended use, such as a canvas tent water repellant.
A: I wouldn't - its designed for wood rot protection and turns the wood green stinks to high heaven for a long time but works fine. Check out Canvas waterproofing from Star Brite sold by the gallon as a better alternative (its designed for marine applications)
A: No experience with bamboo. But generally, any wood must be dry, otherwise the stuff does not penetrate between the fibers. Meaning no protection.
