This file is well made and cut well. The 'b*stard' designation puts it near the middle of file classes (rough, middle, b*stard, second cut, smooth and dead smooth) so it represents a good compromise between cutting speed and smoothness of finish. The file is a single cut type which means that it has a single set of parallel cutting teeth. The file has a slight taper at the last 25 percent of its length. The product does not include a handle and you will need one if you intend do do any serious filing.

This is fine file, literally. A single cut, smooth finish, rectangular file for fine working of metals. That means the line on the file are all in one orientation, and they are all very close together, making very smooth work with little material removal possible. The edges are also cut as one would expect. It does not come with a handle, you can push it into the handle from an old file or buy a new handle or simply use it without a handle if you are not using it for hours on end. The whole file is 12 inches long, of which 9 inches is the working area. See attached picture. It produced a nice smooth finish on some brass model railroad track. Made in Mexico.

Corona Mill file - smooth 10 inch single cut (fine) Hecho en Mexico It's just what it says - a fine cut 10 inch file. Most appropriate for final smoothing work. My first use was for minor nick-removal along the side of a bass guitar that had a little fret sprouting. The clean finish and fresh blades left no scratch marks along the neck where nothing protruded, and neatly trimmed the minor edges that stood proud. In short - it was the right tool for the job. Also appropriate for dressing the blade on your machete or branch-grinder (that's where I'll use it next)

A quality single cut millbastard file that is cut on both faces and edges. I use files of all sorts here on the homestead. This 10 inch general purpose file is the most used of all. The single "coarse" cuts are perfect for sharping most all garden tools and mower blades. This file cuts quickly but still leaves a semi-smooth finish. The file has all the appearances of being made with top quality heat treated high carbon steel. Don't forget to use a File Card to clean metal filings from the grooves of the file cuts to give it added years of life. One can be found at HD at https://www.homedepot.com/s/file%2520card?NCNI-5 .

The Corona cut mill file is a great tool to add to the toolbox. I occasionally fabricate and cannot always get an angle grinder where I need to so this mill file allows for both deburring and sharpening of metal. I can get this file inside of fresh cut tubing to file down the inside for smoothness and flow. I’ve tried this file to sharpen a shovel and it worked fine.

Corona 10 in. Smooth Cut Mill File is a very good all-around file for all metal where you want a nice finished edge. It can restore sharp edges on knives and other items where a nice smooth edge is important. This file works great for sharpening tools such as spades, shovels, hoes, axes, scrapers, lawn mower blades and garden shears. It can also be used to polish and deburr many items especially useful in deburring small items on the lathe. This ten inch Smooth-Cut Mill file leaves a fine smooth finish and has a single cut tooth pattern. This means the file only works in one direction and should not be dragged across the surface backwards. It works great for moderate removal of material and sharpening. It features a rectangular cross section that tapers from the tang toward the end. One side of the file is a Gradual removal side or a little more aggressive side. The other side is a smooth cut or finished edge side. You also might want to go to Home Depot.com and get a handle that slips on the end for greater comfort when using. As always order the item and have it shipped free to your local Home Depot store.

I like the product fine. However, since ordering I am receiving daily emails from companies like ADT, Vivant Home Smart, etc. If I try to unsubscribe from these emails, It sends me to another page with more information. These are products targeted at homeowners and I believe they are coming from me placing an order online with HomeDepot. I would like someone to unlink my email address from these products. Thank you Teresa Westhead

I picked up 2 of these files. I would say that these are excellent general purpose files and will get the job done better than a lot of the junk that is out there. This is a 10 inch file, so it would be good for sharpening garden tools or some shaping tasks. These are not German / Swiss files but they do not carry the German / Swiss price tag either. In fact these are made in Mexico but seem to be decent quality. Probably not for the tool and die maker - the file was not perfectly flat - not so you would notice - especially if you need to sharpen the lawn mower blade or the hatchet - but perfectly adequate for those kind of tasks. Both files bite well and seem to have the correct hardness to remove metal without getting dull right away. I used the smooth cut file to clean up some of the marks left by a coarser file and put an edge on the mower blade. The file performed really well.. Seriously - these are some decent files for use around most homes and shops that are a cut above the rest of the stuff out there.

This file seams to be very well made. I used it to sharpen a lawn mower blade. The blade had not been sharpened for a couple of years so it needed some help. This file worked great to give me a nice sharp edge. It took some time but it was worth it. I would recommend this file. I was hoping I would find a "Made in the U.S.A." and not China. Well it wasn't China - Mexico
