Is it comfortable in my hand? Are they sharp and will the blade hold an edge? Does the lock accidentally engage slowing me down? This isn't the most comfortable set of pruners I own, so I would probably give it 4/5 for comfort. The straight handles don't conform well in my palm and could lead to fatigue if used for an extended period of time. The blade was very sharp out of the box, and as it is forged steel I expect it to hold and edge for a long time. I was really impressed with the dual cut function, which gives you a little more leverage when cutting a big item. It worked well on rose canes approaching 3/4". 5/5 here. I also liked the locking mechanism. In my experience thumb locks (like on Felco pruners) inadvertently get engaged, slowing me down. These pruners have a unique thumb lock that didn't engage accidentally nearly as often. 5/5 here. Now I just need to find a sheath to hold them in.

Yes, they cut well (can cut up to 1" in diameter) and the grip is comfortable, but the locking mechanism needs to line up so a tab can slip into a slot for the pruner to lock. The blades/handle don't line up without me actually squeezing very hard on the handles for them to line up to enable the tab to drop into the locking slot. Additionally, I have only used the pruners once, a week ago, and although I wiped off the blades when I finished using them the blades are already rusting. So for these reasons I wouldn't recommend these pruners.

Our first spring in our new home, there is plenty of cutting and trimming to do. Although I have several different clippers, this one has become the first one I reach for. It's sharp, and the pointed tip allows me to dig in and clip roots below the surface. It is surprisingly powerful, cutting through roots and branches I thought I would have to get my big lopper for. The only downside is the safety closing clip is difficult to use. You must close the cutter very tight and push the clip up.

These are good pruners but I don't see enough unique features to justify the price. The design is sturdy, the metal seems good and there is enough of it. The plastic on the handle is thick and seems like it will stay in place. But the handles are small, better suited to a ladies hand than a mans. And there is no compound leverage to help with thicker limbs. These are not really flaws. There is a push button to lock them closed but it works only OK.

The pruner arrives with a thin coating of oil for protection in shipping / storage. It is immediately comfortable in hand and I really like the lack of external spring to pinch, get dirty, catch on stuff. I haven't disassembled the pruner, but the spring must be enclosed at the hinge. I also like the lock mechanism, though I have seen some reviews suggesting relatively early failure of the plastic part of the lock. As new, however, it is out of the way and easy to engage and disengage and doesn't engage by accident in certain cutting positions as happens with many other pruners, including some other Corona models. The pruner arrived quite sharp, but had what I believe is a small defect, where the edge was rolled over right at the transition between the two cutting zones. I show this in my picture below. This was easily fixed with a couple passes with a diamond stone. The unique blade design takes some getting used to as I found it did not cut cleanly if a branch was located at that transition between the cutting zones. The thick blade has a slight angled grind here that appears intentional. This angle causes the blades to separate when cutting and the resulting cut is not great. It requires a little awareness to always make heavier cuts deep in the blade and lighter cuts closer to the tip, but it really doesn't slow you down and cuts cleanly in both areas. With this in mind, the pruner cut apple and pear branches up to about 3/4" easily and up to 1" with two hands, though I definitely prefer to transition to a two handed bypass for this. The blade held an edge very well for over 3 hours of fruit tree pruning and was comfortable to use throughout. I'm not sure I see much benefit of the blade design over a more traditional bypass pruner, but I do prefer the return spring and blade lock and it is a very nice quality pruner overall.

Nice size heavy duty dual cut pruner that belong in every garden tool kit. They are very durable and strong and rated up to cut a one inch branch. I have lost strength in my hands ( I’m old) and I can easy cut branches due to the design of Corona pruners. Handles are very comfortable rubberized shock absorber material. The pruners are very high quality steel and solid in the hand. The notched hook in the blades (which by the way can be sharpened) provide that cutting power for larger branches. I especially like the integrated button lock feature, that is located so it does inadvertently lock while using the pruners like some of the other “brand X” models.

It is an excellent trimmer that cuts cleanly. The handles have a comfortable, soft contoured grip with a metal core. They appear to be very strong and durable. It has a resharpenable blade. The centralized thumb lock did not work no matter how I held it. This is definitely a poor design problem because the instrument itself is exceptionally well made. The locking system appears cheap in comparison with the rest. However, to use in pruning or trimming you need to be able to lock and unlock it so you can store it and carry it. I indicated I would recommend it but the company needs to fix the locking system.

I can cut 1 1/2 inch limbs and branches with minimal effort. I really like the dual cut design that makes these pruners perfect for a wide variety of landscape maintenance projects. The only feature that concerns me is the plastic latch to keep them closed when not in use. Overall, the quality of these pruners is excellent but the latch doesn't look like it will last long in normal use. Time will tell.
