THE CORONA BP 4250 ALUMINUM FORGED BYPASS HAND PRUNER FOR 1" BRANCHES AND STEMS.This pruner has a forged steel cutting head that can be sharpened or replaced depending on the damage. The tool has a lighter feel than most pruners but yet remains a feeling of strength. Another fine feature are the red encapsulated handles, these handles give you precision cuts we need to make on our plants. This is one of my favorite new tools. Good practice when you are finished pruning, wipe the cutting head with an antibiotic wipe.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Clean, Functionality, Good Shape, Great Quality, Multi Use, Sharp, Strong
I am very pleased with the Corona forged aluminum branch & stem pruner. The pruner has been used extensively this Spring to trim and cut back shrubs in my landscape such as forsythia, burning bush, and heavenly bamboo. The pruner has a comfortable hand grip, and the size is excellent for a petite woman to use. In addition, the handle is a bright red which makes it easy to locate. The cutting blades are very sharp, and according to the information on the package, the blades can be sharpened and replaced if needed. This pruner exceeds my expectations, and it is a great addition to my garden tool collection. It is a high quality tool which I will be using for many years.
Pros: Functionality, Good Shape, Great Quality, Sharp, Strong, Vibrant Color
I have some huge set of Birds of Paradise (20+ yrs old) that are now over 8' tall. I needed a set of pruners that could deal with the stalks of my plants easily. Thses were my choice to make clean cuts. At the base the plants are more than 1.5" thick, but fleshy, not like solid like the branch of a tree. A sharp blad on one side that presses against a bypass anvil is the best method to prune my plants. and I can tell you these bypass pruners are certainly sharp. I've tried other pruners with Teflon coated blades, and they've not seemed to last. I wanted the sharped hardend steel that thes blades offer, Not to heavy, fairly easy to manipulate in tight quarters. These really seem to suit all my requirements, and after some trimming I'm most happy with them, the dipped rubber handles are both comfortable and practicle. These pruners are, once again sharp, and well made.
I would not hesitate to get them again.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Clean, Great Quality, Multi Use, Sharp, Strong
Fits great in my hands(I wear medium men's gloves). One of the handles has a nice grip for your fingers to give you a better grip. It does cut up to 1 inch pretty easily but I'd rather use a big handled bypass pruner for that. I'm not a big fan of the "spring" design on this pruner because once it rusts, it tends to jam in my experience. Hopefully these are a little better. The blades can be sharpened and they are replacable.
Pros: Durable, Functionality, Good Shape, Great Quality, Multi Use, Sharp
These are a very well made set of bypass pruners. The material is high quality with great construction. They feels very sturdy and solid in my hand. The blades are very sharp, appear to be made of solid metal and cut very easily. Great for delicate pruning of decorative plants. It takes very little effort to squeeze the pruners comfortably and effectively. I do wish that the locking mechanism was a little larger. But overall a very nice hand tool.
We have an HOA that takes care of the general landscape but after years of enjoying large, perennial gardens we still like to get our hands dirty in the yard. Our tools are old and it was time to replace them. Nothing beats a good bypass pruner for chores like thinning the orange and lemon trees down here in south FL. This pruner is forged aluminum - something I had never heard of but apparently the process takes normally soft aluminum and makes it hard and strong. Obviously it won't rust. Sounds good but the real test is, how does it cut?
The packaging says the pruner can cut up to one inch thick branches. My wife and I put it to the test. It cut thru a half inch branch like a hot knife thru butter. We couldn't find anything thicker that we wanted to cut but my 110 # wife said the pruner was comfortable in her hand and it took very little effort to make the cut on old, hard wood of our orange tree. She was impressed.
The pruner has replaceable blades and a special notching system for adjusting the fit of the blades. The blades can be locked closed for safety. All in all, a great little pruner that should serve us well for a long time.
My wife said that these are the best bypass pruners that she has ever used. The clippers body is made from forged aluminum and the blades are made out of high carbon steel which works together well keeping the weight down but the strength high. I like the locking anvil so the clippers can be stored easily and safely. The clippers still need to be kept clean and dry when your done to keep the tool from rusting.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Clean, Great Quality, Sharp, Strong
This is a great pruner. It worked well for pruning trees and bushes around the house. The aluminum handle is nice giving it light weight and nice balance. I like the cylindrical spring. Some of the other tools that I own have coil springs which can be problematic in that things can get stuck in them or they fall out. The thing that I want to point out most is the tightening mechanism on the side. I was able to reset the tightness and lock it in place with the cams on the side. This is a nice feature.
This Corona Aluminum handled bypass hand pruner is produced by a company that has been making top notch pruners for ages. Bypass pruners are versatile and can be less harsh on delicate branches and stems than anvil pruners can be. The aluminum handles are both strong (no give) and lightweight. The grips are comfortable but fully opening the jaws spread the grips to the limit for my hands. Smaller handed users may require both hands to take full advantage of the wide opening jaws. The blades of this pruner can be sharpened as needed and are fully replaceable. A one piece sprocketted nut holds the pruners together and a retainer that meshes with the sprocket portion of the nut keeps the nut from loosening. The pruner’s locking mechanism is handy to engage and requires only a small bit of contact to lock the pruners. I tried the pruner out on a young box elder in our back yard. The pruner easily cut a branch that was about a half an inch in diameter. The second cut was on a branch that was about an inch in diameter and required only a tad more effort to perform. Both cuts were clean and smooth and are what you would expect from a Corona Branded Hand Pruner. Both cuts should heal over nicely. These are great pruners that are built to last. Very nice!
Pros: Durable, Sharp, Nice Design, replaceable parts
Well balanced Bypass Pruner. Fits in hand easily and cuts branches without any problem. This pruner is definitely high quality. I really like the metal lock to keep it closed. Metal is much more durable than plastic like other brands.
I pictured the branch on which I tested the pruner. It cut through easily and cleanly. Looking forward to using this pruner as we move into spring.
