I do not know about Florida but in Virginia mine did great outside. I placed it in the gazebo and it went crazy! It was never in direct sunlight. It did require watering daily and I would move it a couple of feet when it rained so it got lots of rain water. I have since moved to Hampton and getting ready to put it out on the deck again this year under gazebo. I hope this helps in some way.
Toxic for both cats and dogs as listed on ASPCA website
You should be able to save your plant. If the top of the plant (the flat top) is jagged and raw because of the bite, prune it with some strong shears. New sprouts should appear in about 6 weeks. This plant is relatively hardy and you should see some new sprouts by spring!
Hi Cajun! We are sad to hear that your plant was left outside. We would love to help at questions@costafarms.com. Depending on how long the tree was outside can determine if the plant is salvageable.
Hi Vee! Thank you for letting us know! You can either treat the soil with a neem oil solution, or something similar, or you can repot the plant. When repotting, use fresh soil (not from your yard) and make sure the roots are clean. If you have any questions, please let us know at questions@costafarms.com.
Indoor
Hi. I can make a couple of suggestions. First, it really doesn't like any direct sunlight on its leaves so perhaps an east window this time of year might be a little too bright for it. Try moving it back about a foot from the window--more if sunlight is still hitting the leaves. Also, you don't mention anything about your location. Have you turned on your heat--or even air conditioning? Plants don't like drafts on their leaves. Finally, while I haven't found this plant to be difficult, sometimes dracenas react to dissolved minerals in your water. If all else fails, you might try using rainwater to water the plant. Good luck!
Hi! You can change the pot once the plant has had enough time to adjust to your home. We recommend waiting at least a month before re-potting. We hope this helps!
I had this problem and solved it with a 1"x1"x 6' wooden stick. I banded the 3 plant stalks with a bungee cord around all including the stick. It has worked great all winter.
I believe that means the soil is too moist. Let it dry out.
